unprofessional delivery
Delivered wrong pallet had to point it out that our order was on the truck, scraped my pavers loading it and ripped the bottom bags of mulch open. A classic example of someone who doesn’t like his job.

Terrible Quality! Filled with trash.
I am not one to leave a negative review but this is unacceptable. It’s an hour drive for us to get to our nearest Home Depot making an exchange or refund a huge pain. We bought this same brand last year and received black wood chips (which is what was expected). THIS year however, we received big chunks of wood, branches and TRASH. Pieces of garbage and plastic in every bag that I have had to go through and pick out. Disappointed to say the least. Save your money!

Mulch had sticky yellowish substance and fungus
We bought this product at Del Rio store when we opened the 5 bags in the yard and began spreading it there was this awful yellowish sticky sludge like substance and also what looked like mold. It was that way though out the bag. Unfortunately we are now stuck with getting rid of it as it isn't something one would want in their yard with kids, pets and plants that could be affected health wise by it. Store gave us a refund but still our time, gas and having to get rid of it were our loss. :(

Black mulch
I purchased 24 bags of this black mulch yes it is black when it comes out of the bag but after a couple days it turns brown , so much guaranteed color like it says on the bag . The picture shows the difference of the left 2 days old the right is fresh today

Don't waste your money
Bought 20 bags of brown mulch to use in plant beds in my yard. It's been in my yard for 3 weeks. Looks brown when it's wet, but looks like old, tired brownish-grey mulch when it's dry. Won't ever buy Vigoro products again.

Color was gone in one day!
I put the black mulch down on a afternoon it ended up raining right after. I kid you not the next day most of the color was gone! Definitely didn't last 12 months like it says. Highly disappointed

Black Mulch More Like Brown
I purchased a number of bags of black mulch. To my surprise it was more brown than black. In many of the bags the mulch had a number of white pieces. Not sure if it’s mold or what it is. I’ll probably end up using a mulch dye to get the color I thought I purchased.

Mulch was fine, delivery was the worst, open bags and colored water covered my drive way and I had to pressure wash the whole driveway because the driver just throw open bags and chips everywhere, will never use home Depot delivery again

Vigoro is my preferred mulch for vegetable and flower Raised bed and Elevated bed gardening. It holds up very well to the Arizona summer heat.

Inferior mulch
This mulch is actually coarsely chopped wood with a tint of brown. Too many big pieces, big chucks with some rocks thrown in along with white mold. Mislabeled as being premium.
What upsets me even more is all the additional extra work and time this will cause me.
Home Depot should be ashamed to sell garbage like this and to label it premium!

Bags were very inconsistent in coloring. My flower beds look striped the difference was so radical. Also found random objects in some of the bags such as 8 inch piece of sharp metal. Worth the extra cost to buy Scotts brand.

The reason for this rating is the product had white mold like substance in about half of the 12 bags. It was nearly impossible to get of my mulch beds once poured out of the bag in the spot I am going to spread it.

The worst mulch
I have been gardening over 30 years, and this is the most inferior “mulch” that I have ever seen. I was very dissapointed that I strayed away from my regular mulch. After 1 day of rain, what little color there was has all but vanished.

Poor consistency and quality
Bought three times of brown color, with different degrees of colors and patterns. There were also some logs in some bags without breakdown and you have to get rid of, but many others like powder. The powder pattern will be easy to flush away by rain.

Big chunks of wood - even large rocks
If you look at the advertising picture, the mulch looks quite smallish and even. In reality, the wood is large and chunky and even has rocks in the mulch. I only bought one bag to test this out and ended up putting it in a spot that won't show. I would never suggest buying this mulch - no matter what the cost.

Poor quality!
I have purchased this premium black mulch every year and have always been satisfied with the color quality but this year I am completely disappointed in the 25 bags I bought on April 15.2024. The top portion is a deep rich black but as I emptied the bags the mulch seemed to be old and brown. Not what I was expecting.

Not red and not premium
I was extremely disappointed in this mulch. I have used Vigoro Premium Red Mulch for the last several years and have never had an issue with it. This mulch was neither red nor premium in quality. In past years, the mulch was made of red wood chips. This mulch was stringy and more brown than red. There was also various types of debris mixed in with the mulch, including chunks of rubber and foil wrapper pieces. It took more mulch than expected to cover the old mulch with this much darker color.

The product was as expected but the delivery which cost me $79 was atrocious. I was told to take my cars out of the driveway which I did expecting the truck to put them close to the house. Instead it dropped the pallet at the bottom of the driveway blocking access to both the driveway and our handicap access.

Needed to get two truckloads of bags of mulch. Bought 30 bags and spread it on the gardens. Bought the second truckload and it was way darker. Went back to the store and they said I must have gotten the first leftover from last year and they couldn't do anything about the extreme color difference.

Not sure
First three bags were fine. Went back the next day and bought three more. Soaking wet and turned out brown. Thought it was because they were wet. Nope. Now my flower bed has two different colors in it. Not happy.

Not mulched or colored well
I ordered Scott’s and was delivered this by mistake. I didn’t rate it based on the incorrect item being received though. This mulch has huge tree limbs in it and is not consistently sized. I had to remove quite a few pieces bc it looked like dead plants and not mulch. It isn’t consistently colored either. Definitely recommend the Scott’s over this.

Garbage!!
This is the worst mulch ever!! I'm not sure what the problem is recently but I have never had large pieces of garbage (cans, plastic, tampon applicators) this is embarrassing. Not to mention its far from premium, most of the pieces were small tree limbs and hardly what I would call mulch. It's costing me to actually load up and return the 25 bags that I didn't use, this is poor customer service and quality of a product. DO NOT BUY
