I ordered online and checked the manufacturer's installation video on YT. It was simple to install and definitely looks really good. Also, it does work as advertised and raises the level of water in the tub to a higher level. Very happy with this purchase.

This overflow prevention is of the highest. Quality. When I took it out of the package the first thing I noticed was its weight... That indicated quality to me. Removing the old one was easy. Just remove two screws and the old one is off and out. On the new one you'll notice 3 circles. One indicating full open, and the next one half open and the third is fully closed.... The mating part has a triangle on it indicating which option you have it set for full open or half open. Once you pop off the center disc and you see a cut out in the inner piece. Turn the opening a quarter turn and you will see where the first screw goes.. Install the screw and snug it up. Turn the ring half way around and install the second screw till snug. Once the positioning looks good tighten one screw, rotate and finish tighten the second screw.. return the dial to full open, then put the center plate back on and your done.

When I installed the original overflow drain in my "name brand" whirlpool tub, the turning mechanism was a bit stiff and one of the plastic parts twisted. So I got this to replace it damaged part. At first look the only difference is that this replacement doesn't have the name brand emblazoned on front (see picture). But when I picked it up it is much heavier. The front cover of the name brand part weighted 12 grams. This one weighs 52 grams. Yes it is over 4 times heavier. I expect that this one will outlive the life of the tub.

I put in a brand new overflow vale about 6 months ago when I bought a new tub and the screws and vale were already rusting, so I decided to pick up this overflow. I couldn’t be happier. The valve looks great on the tub and works exactly as described. I leave the vale open unless I am filling up the tub for a bath and it’s as easy as a turn to close it. One negative is that the product didn’t come with instructions for installation which caused the install to take a lot longer than it should have but once you figure it out it’s relatively straightforward.

Yep, it works. I can now fill my tub to its full capacity! Of course, with great water stoppage comes great responsibility! Your tub will keep filling and will overflow if you do not stop it! Something to consider if you have children. Of course you can choose how much and at what level the water stops with this unit! If you would like it to go to the top of the fitting, there is an option for that. I closed mine completely off, and just am aware that I no longer have an overflow. Note that this did not come with any instructions, but its pretty simple to figure out. As far as quality goes, this is top notch, made of solid metal and a nice thick gasket to stop the water. The finish is nice too and will match other satin nickel fixtures you may have.

Lacking installation instructions. You can find them online but they're very vague. It's extremely easy to break during installation. I don't recommend this.

I am so pleased with this overflow cover! I love being able to fill up my tub and had a good, deep soak! (it's so lame how tub overflows are set so low that only a child can be covered by the shallow water!). I tried a plastic cover and it kept coming off. This cover is made of metal and is good quality and lets you adjust the overflow. The simple installation instructions given by another review were very helpful, I just kept trying to make them more complicated; it got confusing when I tried to figure it out in my head ahead of time. But when I just did each step as it came, it was surprisingly easy.

I like the design, wish it wasnt plastic. Also the dial ring doesn't stay locked in place.

True- no instructions in the box. However, they DO have instructions online. Just do a Google search for “Westbrass d493chm-26”. You’ll find it. Or- there’s an excellent review on Home Depot’s page by a guy named Mike, dated Dec 5, 2018. He gives perfect instructions. I’ll just add: don’t separate the parts other than removing the face plate, & DO NOT over tighten the screws. So far it works great and is 100 times better than the suction cup stick on kind.

Easy to install but when it should be closed it still allows water to drain but at a much slower rate rather disappointed.

Plastic clip that holds the chrome face plate and chrome ring kept falling off when used.

This item is great. I have a soaker tub, but the water still doesn't get high enough. With this item I can just turn it and fill the tub all the way up. Very nice. Easy to install

This round replacement full or partial closing metal overflow in oil rubbed bronze is going to match all the new items we are going to install in the new bathroom. It took a little while to get it but it was in great condition and packaged well when we did get it. We selected this rubbed bronze to match all the bathroom items. We like the ease of how it operated and the specifically the ring which was easy to turn when we tried it in our tub. This product is top quality and works as expected. We like it and will purchase another one if we need it.

I invested a lot of money in a bathroom remodel and a deep soak bath tub with thermostatic temperature control and jet pumped circulation for my arthritis, but the overflow wasn't much deeper than the tub it replaced. All I could do was to cover the overflow and that didn't work. That left me running the hot water until it turned cold then my soak was over. This partial to full closing overflow now allows me to have the tub depth I intended for complete submersion. I can fill it, turn the overflow off and conserve the water that's in it and enjoy the therapeutic features of a good hot soak in my tub.

I didn't know this product actually existed. I was always under the impression that these only came standard as a fixed overflow drain. Installation instructions and actual installation was simple to read and was easy to follow through. Once installed - I tested the variable features and was pleasantly surprised by the results. The rubbed bronze finish looked great and compliments my bathroom.

This product is exactly as described. It looks very nice and I think it will last a long time. The oil rubbed finish is very durable and it looks great installed. It took no time to install it and all you need is a screwdriver. Any home do it yourselfer can do this repair. No adjustments and it takes about 3 minutes to install this product. Very nice

The Westbrass D493CHM-12 (oil rubbed bronze) arrived promptly and packaged very good. All pieces included and intact. I selected this particular tub overflow because it matches the tub's other plumbing hardware. I like the ease of operation, specifically the ring which is easy to turn. I use it in our tub. The product is top quality. It is working out as expected, I like it, and will order it again, if needed.

The Westbrass deep soak closing overflow cover came assembled with no directions. I would not recommend this for a "do it yourselfer" with no prior plumbing experience. In my installation I needed to purchase a different style of drain and overflow pipe as the one I had had a gasket that prevented leaking and this unit was not compatible. After I figured out how to disassemble the unit without breaking I was able to install with no leaks. Reassembly was not so simple. It required lining up of all plastic so cover would snap back together and different settings were in the proper placement. Once together and tub was filled it performed as expected and looked nice in the tub. I would also add that I would not recommend this be used in a bathroom where there maybe unsupervised children as overflow of tub can happen if closed and water is left running. If tub is overfilled and there is splashing or rapid movement takes place water can escape tub easily. I am surprised that these warnings were not included in packaging. Lack of any directions in the package or online was a major disappointment. If not careful with disassembly and reassembly breakage of the cheap plastic parts could occur.

Works great. No leaks so far. Heavy material. The only thing I found that I dont like about this product, even though it doesn't affect the way it works, is that in the picture it has a rubbed bronze face with only the dial marks of open, closed, and partially closed, but when the actual part came in, it has WESTBRASS plastered across the front of it in the same colored paint as the open closed symbols... I think this should be noted in the pictures of the item because it changes the WHOLE look of the product, and I probably wouldnt have ordered it if I had known that. BUT...it still works good... so I gave it 4 stars
