This overflow prevention is of the highest. Quality. When I took it out of the package the first thing I noticed was its weight... That indicated quality to me. Removing the old one was easy. Just remove two screws and the old one is off and out. On the new one you'll notice 3 circles. One indicating full open, and the next one half open and the third is fully closed.... The mating part has a triangle on it indicating which option you have it set for full open or half open. Once you pop off the center disc and you see a cut out in the inner piece. Turn the opening a quarter turn and you will see where the first screw goes.. Install the screw and snug it up. Turn the ring half way around and install the second screw till snug. Once the positioning looks good tighten one screw, rotate and finish tighten the second screw.. return the dial to full open, then put the center plate back on and your done.

When I installed the original overflow drain in my "name brand" whirlpool tub, the turning mechanism was a bit stiff and one of the plastic parts twisted. So I got this to replace it damaged part. At first look the only difference is that this replacement doesn't have the name brand emblazoned on front (see picture). But when I picked it up it is much heavier. The front cover of the name brand part weighted 12 grams. This one weighs 52 grams. Yes it is over 4 times heavier. I expect that this one will outlive the life of the tub.

I put in a brand new overflow vale about 6 months ago when I bought a new tub and the screws and vale were already rusting, so I decided to pick up this overflow. I couldn’t be happier. The valve looks great on the tub and works exactly as described. I leave the vale open unless I am filling up the tub for a bath and it’s as easy as a turn to close it. One negative is that the product didn’t come with instructions for installation which caused the install to take a lot longer than it should have but once you figure it out it’s relatively straightforward.

Yep, it works. I can now fill my tub to its full capacity! Of course, with great water stoppage comes great responsibility! Your tub will keep filling and will overflow if you do not stop it! Something to consider if you have children.
Of course you can choose how much and at what level the water stops with this unit! If you would like it to go to the top of the fitting, there is an option for that. I closed mine completely off, and just am aware that I no longer have an overflow. Note that this did not come with any instructions, but its pretty simple to figure out.
As far as quality goes, this is top notch, made of solid metal and a nice thick gasket to stop the water. The finish is nice too and will match other satin nickel fixtures you may have.

Easy Installation!
True- no instructions in the box. However, they DO have instructions online. Just do a Google search for “Westbrass d493chm-26”. You’ll find it.
Or- there’s an excellent review on Home Depot’s page by a guy named Mike, dated Dec 5, 2018. He gives perfect instructions. I’ll just add: don’t separate the parts other than removing the face plate, & DO NOT over tighten the screws. So far it works great and is 100 times better than the suction cup stick on kind.

Easy to install but when it should be closed it still allows water to drain but at a much slower rate rather disappointed.
