Much as I hate to admit it this Zinsser mildew proof paint is about as good as you will get especially for high humidity rooms such as bathrooms, showers, and basements. You do have to purchase huge amounts of this type paint and pricing is what I was overly concerned with but after using my completed bathroom (see all pictures for proof) you can clearly see that the paint has held up perfectly with neither blistering nor mold/mildew rearing it's ugly head. If you want a quality mildew proof paint this is the one to get!

I'm not a professional painter, and I'm not an endorser of any paint manufacturer, product or anything like that. I'm an average Joe that needs to paint a relatively small bathroom ceiling where I recently added LED ceiling lights and my wife now would like the ceiling color changed as well. I chose this paint since it says that it is great for mold/mildew areas such as bathrooms, and I wanted to use what appeared to be a great product for the job (I don't want to be doing this again anytime soon). To note, I don't have prior history of mold or mildew in this bathroom. The existing ceiling paint (Glidden satin, approx 3 years old) held up very well. I began by reading the instructions and the label says the paint can be applied over existing painted surfaces as long as it is cleaned and sound. This paint does not need primer. I cleaned the entire ceiling with a household cleaner to remove any grime, then I sanded it lightly using a piece of sandpaper over a drywall sanding block. I wiped the ceiling down using a damp cloth & water to take off the dust and came back to paint a couple days later. I began painting by cutting in the ceiling at the walls and noticed this paint was not adhering to the existing finish very well. The problem occurs when I overlap some strokes - the brush pulls away areas the first strokes just put down. I know I shouldn't "over tool" the paint when applying by brush, but this is ridiculous. I got very frustrated, so I decided to stop and read the instructions again, check the internet, and clean the ceiling once more. Well, it still occurred and I'm beyond my limits of dealing with it. I didn't get to use the roller yet, but I'm worried what condition the ceiling will be left in after those overlapping movements. I've never experienced such terrible performance, and I've used a lot of different brands over the years. In my opinion, this is a very tricky paint to use over a sound existing finish. I'll be getting another brand - something that I've used before and know works well.

Very thin, no coverage, runs super easy

I was not able to use this paint and had to return it because the local Home Depot store could not add tint to the paint. Their computer program was not set up to add color to this brand of paint. I ended up have to purchase 2 gallons of another brand.

I had to paint some drywall repairs in the bathroom. This paint covered the existing paint and new drywall and covered completely. Even some marker marks were almost completely covered with one coat. Very impressed.

The paint needs two coats to cover even after priming. This is especially important to do over dark areas. Also, one case of them were open and leaking when we checked them at home.

I used it as a top coat after waterproofing basement walls. Applied two coats hopefully it will live up to its mold and mildew proof representation. Looks great

We have a room that we use for cold storage. We have rock foundation and concrete floors. This room is a tad damp and we have seen mold on our ceiling. Needed a paint that would tackle this after we treated the surface first with bleach. We installed a fan and finished the floor with ceramic tile. This product covered the ceiling and walls nicely. We did two coats to make sure we won't see this problem again.

Was drippy, very poor adhesion, worst paint I have ever used.

I cleaned my bead board ceiling and painted with this paint and the Mold started coming back after about a year.

Best paint to control mold and mildew we have even used. We will be buying more

This paint is awful, any other paint is better than this, don’t buy it unless you wanna put 5 coats on the walls for an even finish.

The paint needed more primer so add more primer providing you put with oil base or water based

Love Zinsser! The finish is just what I wanted, something that could be wiped down. I would use again.

Zinsser Perma-White is not as good as it used to be. The paint was thin and didn’t provide one-coat coverage, very disappointing! I will not buy it again.
