I didn't buy this for sponges. I wanted to offer a safe nesting spot for some finches that used to nest under a different awning (which succumbed to heavy snow sliding off the roof). Within a week after my hanging it, the finches had successfully built a nest! Can't say how it performs for its intended purpose...

Perfect for a towel or two from the kitchen counter to keep it hidden. Easily to hangs over cupboard door and very sturdy.

This over the cabinet tray is super useful, it should be sold in your stores. It keeps my kitchen counter free of sponges etc.
