The installation was NOT as easy as they claim, secondly, from day one, the screen did not retract smoothly (always had to aid with gentle hand push), and finally, after about a year of use, it fell apart.. Sadly.. I think I am going with different system..

Door definitely does install in less than 30 minutes. 3rd door I’ve installed over years . I was so happy we no longer have to wind the mechanism or cut the screen before install. That being said this door opened 8 TIMES before it failed to “ retract “ any longer. 8 TIMES !! THANK GOODNESS I DIDN’T pay the extra $120 and waited three months for a bronze one. I love these screens, installed one on each exterior door. My wife wanted storm doors, but we live in an area with occasional high wind. I hate when they get ripped open by strong wind and I wasn't excited about having to open two doors every time I come in or go out. These are the perfect solution. Installed the first one in about 45 minutes. The second took only about 15 minutes.

I am pleasantly surprised with the quality of this door. The installation was unbelievably easy. From box opening it took me a total of 20 minutes to get this door put up. It literally just has six screws that you have to install to hold the door in and three screws for the sill plate. It fit well and closes good. One downfall is there is a slight gap at the top of the door where it doesn't seal to my door jamb but that can be easily fixed with some caulk. I will say the screen isn't super tight but it's sealed plenty good enough to keep bugs out. The sound it makes when it latches is oddly satisfying. I cannot comment on longevity since I just installed it. But my initial impressions are very good. I'm happy with it. In my opinion it's worth every dollar of the price

My door was 32" wide and had a metal sill so the installation was a breeze. Can be done by 1 person in 30 minutes. Drill bit and screw driver bit are both provided. I had exactly 3/4" depth for the mounting flanges.

Loved the door once I got it installed. Now the door doesn’t open and shut correctly . First the top screen came off the traction now the hole screen bulged .. It’s completely off … so dissatisfied, now I have nothing.

Easy install if you have the following: a plumb door, a door sill that extends 3/4” past the flat mounting surface ( brick mould is perfect), and the door jamb width is either 36” or 32”. I believe the 30 minute install is quite possible if your installation checks all those requirements. In my case I had to build out the sill plate 3/4” to support bottom rail. I also had to cut off 2” of top and bottom rail to fit my 30” width with a cutoff saw. Hints: Read the instructions carefully before starting especially if you’re unfamiliar with door installation. Measure twice, cut once! The ABCD letters on the vertical stiles is embossed at the very top and bottom of the corners. Since I was working alone, I found it helpful to use a wood clamp about 8” jaw opening lightly tightened to hold one side of door frame while I fastened the screen roller side. Also, keep your hand on the latch the entire time you open or close the screen.

Don't Waste Your Money!. Two warranty claims in 5 months. First for the latch and second for the real breaking. Its flimsy garbage!!

This replaced a more expensive, less attractive Phantom screen that fell apart after 7 years. The door frame is 32Wx80H and it fit perfectly. Easy to assemble and I did it by myself. Looks good, works good. Now we'll see how it holds up to the windy, salty Hawaii climate. With a little basic maintenance, I expect it will be fine. And it was in stock at the local store - no ordering and waiting. Satisfied customer, so far.

Trash had to flip it every few weeks because the screen would sink down in the spool. Tightening the strength of the spool didn’t make it retract any better. Finally it just gave out

It was easy to install and it worked great but 12 months into having it I got home one day realized the screen wasn't tight and found out the whole mechanism broke apart and fell out the bottom. Live alone so it had very minimal use and was never abused.

I Bought this Anderson retractable Screen door and have absolutely no complaints.Thw only reason I purchased a new one is because we added a dog to the family and he ran right thru it. And we decided to get a black one this time. And we love it.

I have bought this similar item at a cheaper price point and they worked so much better. The 30 min easy install is a joke. The unit doesn't properly slide into the grooves just to get them it was an hour product than the screen doesn't retract into the side properly. So aggravating! Lets see what Anderson says?!!! BTW I am in the construction field so its not operator/install error!

Now I can open the front door w/o letting the bugs come in and have the additional ventilation in the house. Two things to be aware of though: The bottom rail (which should be a thicker) needs to be installed below the threshold, otherwise it may be kicked and damaged. The other thing is, it is easy to walk into the screen. Not having a screen on the front door before, I wasn't paying attention and walked into the screen. Very easy installation and the instructions are straightforward.

I work as a general handyman and having installed several of these I can say with confidence that this is a good product. It's also a fair bit cheaper than other similar products. However, don't buy into the 30 minute install time. Yes, it's totally possible to install one in 30 minutes but that's assuming it's a perfect fit from the start. The frame of the screen door is easy enough to put together and it's been engineered to be a quick install but there are issues you may run into along the way. At my own home, I found that my door frame was just a little too wide so I needed to add a couple of strips of wood to each side to narrow the gap. In the end everthing worked out well and the new screen looks and works great. These retractable screens are a great choice if you don't want to cover up your door as the screen is only present when in use. The screen is also quite easy to see through, retracts smoothly and easily, and can be locked.

The fit and finish is worth the money. Good value. If you have pets and/or kids, I wouldn't recommend it. The screen and mechanism is made to open and close slowly. Kids and pets could destroy it in no time. I Installed this screen on the door leading into our house from the garage. I didn't want a standard storm door due to the swing out and height off the ground. The entry is three steps higher than ground level so this door works great for what I needed. Install was simple and straight forward. I do recommend watching the videos on the Andersen site though. My only complaint is the length of the provided sill adapter. The opening on a standard 32" door is 31". The provided sill adapter is 30 and one half inches. The adapter comes up a half inch short for a standard door! Sure, for another 20 bucks I could order the longer adapter on the webpage, but COME ON! The bean counters and engineers couldn't agree on another half inch? It makes more sense to provide a longer parts and let us decide.

30 minute installation… I think that’s a typo. Took 3 hours. And still doesn’t fit right. Even though my dimensions are 36-80. And I’m pretty smart. The bottom and top of the screen aren’t secure. I’m sure that’s to help with the recoil. But be careful. Animals can get in and out of your house! So long to my cat. Reward if found.

This retractable screen door is just what I needed. It is very easy to assemble and install. It took me 45 minutes, just 6 screws. The quality is excellent. It opens and closes effortlessly.

This retractable screen is very high quality and very easy to install. My door opening is 36 x 80 and after I assembled the screen at 36 inches and put it inside the doorway,I had a gap on each side. I merely took out the two clips and pulled each side out to fit flush. Easy one person job.

I am not handy and i was able to install myself. Read each step of the directions several times before attempting. They are clear, but i needed to process because the work was unfamiliar.

A relatively inexpensive, easy DIY install for a somewhat non-standard entrance door (photos). Main wrinkle is height of entrance, which exceeds even the tallest available version of the screen. But it was easy to mount a 2x4 across top to frame the screen and then use custom screen kit to make right size screen to close off top opening. Doesn’t look too bad, and when in use love the ventilation provided by the unobstructed screen opening. Works beautifully, only time will tell on durability.

wind blows screen out of top and bottom tracks. When extended to 36” door goes beyond track hit or miss gets hung up.had to add some plastic lattice joint pieces slipped into top and bottom tracks to keep wind from blowing screen out of tracks.that problem solved but cant open door .

This was relatively straight forward to assemble. My door area was exactly 32"x80" but the installation instructions should be amended in terms of the door sill positioning which is the last part of the installation. My door fit flush into the area, although I could've lowered it 1/4 - 1/2 an inch to ensure that sill lines up better that would be secured but if you screw the vertical assembly into your door molding following the instructions then it is too late, unless you want to reposition (I wouldn't want predrilled holes left open to the weather and perhaps this could be avoided if one person is holding the door while another measures ***this is key so to avoid my scenario, measure height for a flush sill fit but ensure that the top won't have a gap as some customers reported*** 2 people are needed for this task, I was alone). In terms of the sill itself, it is a bit weird that they do leave gaps which could easily be filled in with rubber pieces that can come with the product, I don't think it's necessary to sell a longer sill separate which would then be cut down or trimmed to 32" width - this doesn't make sense. This is after all Andersen brand that Home Depot recognized and awarded based on their success. What could be improved are the plastic pieces on this overall screen door as based on other reviews this is a concern for long term use. The quality of materials aren't expensive so making them stronger and more durable would not impact cost and would result in better customer reviews and overall happiness with product, hence my 4 star review and an average rating for quality. The screen itself could also be stronger, the quality of it seems relatively cheap. I'm basing this on the qualities of replacement screens carried by Home Depot that are used for repairs (not for this product!) and this screen seems to be weak.

Love this screen door, was easy to put in and works great. One thing I wish it came with a painted design on it. It is so invisible that I walked into it twice
