I've had this screen for approximately 3 months. It worked ok, but from the beginning it's had issues retracting. Now it wont retract at all, very disappointing. Of course I don't have a receipt to return. Don't buy, it's junk.

Read many great reviews about this door and went and bought one today. Easy to assemble once you figure out the diagrams but once we finally got it installed and tried it, the mesh screen wouldn’t retract AT ALL!!! I have screen mesh lumped up hanging in front of my door and the customer service person even said there’s an issue with the traction housing. Now I have to take this one down and figure out how to take it apart and wait for them to mail me another one which will take a few weeks. So upset right now!!

I installed this door on Saturday and it is now Thursday. Installation was very easy and I was thrilled with the door for the first few days. Then I noticed the bottom screen had come out of the track and the next day the top was out too. Now it struggles to retract because the screen is loose and bugs can get in. Disappointed as I really loved this door when first installed and we only got about 3 days of proper use out of it.

Concept was great and easy assembly. But here is where it falls short. When expanded to 36 inches the catch doesn’t go into the track. The whole issue is the guide piece is too short to stay in the track and the gap from expansion to 36 is too much where it’s hot or miss on retracting properly. Basically the top and bottom track needs to be made an inch or inch and a half longer and customers would be happier with the product.

It's made to go on the outside of the house but our old house has our backdoor opening out so we had to put it on the inside. Took a couple of minor tweaks to our frame and the latch but works great. You won't be able to lock it from the inside when you set it up this way but we were just happy to find a screen door that held up to the wind and looks nice.

This screen door works great and installation was easy enough if you follow the directions. I think it's helpful to have a second person help as the frame may need to be held up off the floor while someone else screws it to the sides. It works great for me, and lets me have the door open which entertains the cat. So far he hasn't tried to get out through it. The retracting mechanism is the best part about it and works well. I have to add one caveat about the sill adapter. The sill adapter they include in a 36" wide door is only 30.5", which seems ridiculous. The instructions even say they've included one that will fit most door opening widths to avoid the need for cutting. So they provide one that's even shorter than the variable door width of 33-36! I chatted online with someone and though polite, the message was clear - too bad, buy an adapter. I saw another person left a review that they called and were sent one for free, so I did the same, and the rep asked his manager and received approval to send me one for free. I appreciate them doing that, but really, they should just include the longer one to begin with, or let you select your length when you buy the door. The one I received was exactly 36", which fit perfectly for me, with just having to clip two corners at an angle to fit my opening. The only sill adapter available was silver in color, but I was able to spray paint it and the screws a gold to match my existing sill, which does still shows alongside this adapter. Overall a great door, even with the sill problem.

The box states “designed for 32-36” wide doors. Well the sill adapter that is included in the box is only 30 1/2 inches long which won’t even fit a 32” door. I spent over 45 mins on the phone with the solution center and was told that I would need to order a 36” sill adapter at a cost. Why isn’t the 36” sill adapter included so it can be cut to fit a 32” to 36” door? This product, as it is advertised, is misleading and should be reported.

I have had this screen for less than a year. A plastic piece at the bottom broke off. They won’t warranty it and make you buy another half of the door for $96. It’s a 10 cent piece that shouldn’t have broke in 9 months. Very dissatisfied

Installation was very easy. It looks great and operates easily. I would recommend this Retractable Screen.

This was a fairly easy process to build and hang. Took me about 30 minutes. I’d say I’m a skilled DIY person used to many types of home projects. If you get stuck while reading the instructions there is a video on the HD website for this product. This is the third time I’ve installed one of these types of screens. It is an ideal screen for the front door if you’re looking for a sleek modern look with excellent function.

Well made and very easy to install. Moving the screen back and forth is smooth as silk. The locking mechanism is great, too.

I loved the idea of this door and if the issue is fixed it would be a great product. Unfortunately with consistent daily use, the screen at the top seam rips from wear of the screen buckling when closing. Even if replaced, I think it would happen again. The screen is not actually secure in the top and bottom track, it easily falls out of place when closing, which causes the screen to bend and buckle, which is why it is ripping.

Just finished installing it. The cheap plastic endcaps broke before I even got it out of the box. And the screen won't retract without going off kilter and coming out of the track 1st time I used it. What a waste of $200. I love the concept of this door. It was exactly what I was looking for, but poorly quality. $200 and it looks great closed, but only retracts 3 or 4 inches. Very disappointing.

The door did install in less than 30 minutes, but when I slid it open, it would not retract. Called Andersen (as stated on the box) they said it would take up to 11 days to send a new one.I searched online for ways to adjust the tension (it's really just a shade turned vertical) and apparently the doors are not designed for the consumer to do this. Other brands out there have nice YouTube videos showing how to adjust the tension on similar doors, but not Andersen.I'm going to return mine and find something else, it's not worth the hassle of getting a new one and finding that I have the same problem 6 days or 6 months in the future.Otherwise, it's a well designed door, but this well-documented problem results in two stars from me.

Did everything right and went to try it out and the screen did not retract! They're sending me a new screen, but not fun to do all the work and have out but work.

On installation it did not even retract! We are taking it back!

First, don’t be that donkey who returns this to the store if something is wrong. Ours was clearly returned to the store for being defective and a lazy worker just restocked it. Anderson was a 5 minute call to replace it. TLDR; awesome design of a door for a back door that doesn’t slide. Took 15 minutes to install (if not for donkeys mentioned before). Highly recommend!

It would have been better to get a slightly wider screen. I feel like this obscures the View of our door anszz CSA also access to the key and handle. We had a 36 inch wide door and 36 inch wide screen. Would have been better to have the screen 38 wide.

First off, it does not come with a big enough sill to seal the door. There's a gap between the screen and the door frame. You have to pay extra for the bigger sill. But what's worse is it stops retract after 6 months. If you do a search on Andersen screen doors no longer retracting you will see this is a common issue. I wish I would have checked that before paying the extra money for an Andersen. You think you are buying a better product, but you are just throwing your money away. Then good luck trying to contact Andersen. No one is available to talk to. Save your money. Don't buy an Andersen.

Love the way the retractable screen doors look and keep the bugs out, but it comes with a warning! Be careful when being opened by guest. We found that we had to be very careful to tell everyone not to push it when opening, or you will rip the screen. We didn't have for very long before someone opened the screen by pushing it to the retractable casing, making the screen wrinkle and rip. I am a bit bummed that the screen material is so delicate that it didn't last very long. It's not like you can stand there and tell everyone going in and out of a door to just let it retract at it own speed. The screen is not covered in the warranty. Buyer Beware!

Very easy install, works great. I told my wife it says 30 minutes to install, so I should be able to get it done in 2 hrs. She timed me it took 18 minutes, after it was out of the box and I read through the instructions.

This was the easiest install I have ever done. Took longer to unpack it than it did to install. Fit perfectly

This alternative to a traditional screen or storm door is awesome! It is super easy to install. From the time I cut into the box to completion was only 20 mins. Instructions were easy to follow, and it comes with the drill bit and phillips screw driver adapter.

This retractable screen door does not fit properly. It states that the height is 80 inches so I purchased it for my door based on the height being 80 inches but there is a gap at the top of the door. I would not have purchased it if I knew this would happen.

The retractable screen door was great but after four months, the screen door stops retracting. Found a plastic part on the bottom broke. This means the quality is not good. I'll see if they have parts to fix it. Other than that, it's down the drain.

A few days after installation, and just a few open/closing of door, the screen separated from the top frame bar. Note: nobody walked through the screen while it was closed, as I have heard others detail this happening. I have tried to get the screen back into place but it was already torn. See pics attached. Nice concept, but it doesn't work as designed. Plan to remove and install a real storm door. Good luck to anyone purchasing, just be wary of this defect.

We bought this screen a few months back and it’s already broken. The bottom left corner has cracked below the track which has caused the lower plastic piece to come detached. Please see picture. So very disappointed. We don't use this door a lot or have kids that would be abusing it. There is a limited warranty and I’m really hoping this is covered. If not, huge waste of money.

It had one job: retract the screen. Right out of the box it couldn't do it (see images). The screen closes nicely but does not retract. Trying to manually move it to the retracted position just causes the top and bottom to move unevenly and the screen to bunch up. Aside from the floppy screen the appearance is good and the materials otherwise seem to be good. Installation is easy. I didn't get to the point of installing the sill adaptor but I assume that is as easy at the rest. Uninstalling it is also easy, which is good since that job comes right after the install. Save yourself a bunch of wasted time by not buying this.

I purchased this door in Sept 2020 and the installation onto my screened in porch was fairly easy. Two months later I noticed that the end cap on the bottom where the screen retracts had cracked, because its plastic, and now the screen door won't retract properly. This is not a door we used a lot or abused in anyway. I called Andersen regarding the warranty and they said the warranty only counts if its damaged inside the box. Once its installed, there is no warranty. This is a lot of money for plastic that does not appear to be able to withstand the elements. Don't waste your money, get something that will last.

February 2020 we bought this product to replace an old retractable screen door that had stopped retracting. We had it installed by Home Depot to be sure it was done correctly. We haven’t closed the screen for several months since it’s been so hot here. Last week I noticed pieces of plastic on the step below the door and when I looked closer I could see the pole on which the screen apparently wraps had fallen through and was sitting on the step. Needless to say the door no longer closes. I’ll be contacting Andersen about the 5 year warranty on this product that lasted less than a year.
