Francisco in lighting was the best!
Francisco in lighting is the man! He was friendly and patient and fielded dozens of our questions about recessed lighting. If you're his manager and happen to read this, should probably give Francisco a raise for doing his job so dang well. He educated us, explained all the factors we had to consider, showed us how everything fit together. We learned more from him in 30 minutes than we had from all of our previous visits to Homedepot and online inquiries combined. We ended up buying 700 dollars of lighting on the spot--and this purchase ended up saving us almost 500 dollars. So like I said, give that guy a bonus!

Aaron in carpeting
Aaron was great. We came to get carpet at closing time and he answered all our questions and was super patient. We came back the next day and he remembered us and even the carpet that we wanted. I don't know if worked in that section but he was awesome.

mind reader
I went to this Home Depot for help with a problem.I wanted to redo my old bathroom, but I had no idea what was available. Dan showed me new floor and wall tiles, suggested paint colors and when I asked about hardware, he directed me to the right aisle. All this time, he stayed with me, showing and helping me make decisions.
Having him with me made all the difference in my successful shopping experience at Home Depot.

The Emeryville Home Deport is a dirty, disorganized store with rude associates and surely security guards. You are treated like a thief.
The place is a mess -- everything is thrown everywhere. The aisles are always blocked. Associates are never available and don't know anything if can find one. There is a long wait time at the return counter and the employees are generally rude and unhelpful. The security guards are surely and make you feel like a thief -- everyone gets searched on the way out of the store. Clearly there is little management or supervision. Unless you absolutely need something that can only be found at the Home Deport, go someplace else. Any money saved is not worth the aggravation.

Returned Drill
I bought a rigid compact drill and was so excited I threw away the box, thinking that it was the perfect drill for what I was using it for. I had to return the drill because it did not give enough power for drilling hundreds of screws into wood in a day. I was able to return it without the box, and with my receipt being partially rubbed away. All we needed was the SKU code, and the lady, named Nequasha, at the return station was very kind to help! She was happy to be there and patient with us.

Garden Department Needs Help!
Garden associates up front or in the aisles are needed. More native and drought-tolerant plants are needed. Garden area should be organized according to plants' water needs and by shade and sun.

Amazingly knowledgeable and helpful associate!
Expecting to spend a fair amount of time in the Home Depot store even though I was in a rush, this was a great experience finding my product, an inexpensive but particular brand of dolly or hand cart. 5 minutes after I walked in the store, an associate, Nathan may have noticed I was in a rush, asked if I needed help finding something, and immediately guided me to the aisle where the hand carts were. This was after he looked up the product on the computer and saw that I got the brand I came in for. I breezed through self check out. But all in all, the service by the associate cut my time spent in half, even at a truly peak period (4 pm) in Emeryville!

Great Place for 1st Timers and DIYers
This is the place to go for DIY projects. I got a new apartment in the area, with substandard gaps in the caulking and draft coming in the bathroom window. I didn't want to bother the landlord for something so little. I was able to get all the tools I needed, plus professional advice on how to apply the product and what would happen if done incorrectly (just in case lol). I used his recommendations to complete the caulking and insulation of my windows, baseboards, tub and sinks. I am a female college student and the products he chose were professional quality and looked great better than what was laid down by the landlords contractor! So happy I came here.

Jake was great!
Jake was great! I couldn't of asked for a better associate to help me with my shopping. I'm often at Home Depot and rarely come across somebody with values such as his. Holding customer service, friendliness, enthusiasm above his own personal agenda. Thank you Jake for redeeming Home Depot's stance on customer service for me.

This is my go to location
I like that when I enter the store there is an associate who asks me if I need help finding something. I usually say yes and they walk me to the section and help further if I need it. HD is not a store I would be inclined to browse, so having this extra help is really nice and saves time. The cashiers are always very warm and friendly yet professional and quick. Being someone who is a not a home improvement buff this sort of experience makes it easy to do things myself. I like that.

HD app and item availability
At least twice in the last few months, I've checked online for an item at the Emeryville store, seen it supposedly in stock, and gone to the store to find out they didn't have it. Although HD touts it's website and app, checking for availability of items depends on each store conducting a complete inventory and keeping it up to date (admittedly, not an easy task). If HD hopes to get customers to use their apps, they need to understand this, or stop pushing customers to use it. Although the associates sometimes suggest another store, one of the reasons I shop at this store is convenience. Driving to another store that has the item in stock, sometimes quite a distance away, doesn't always work for me. Ordering online doesn't always work because I can't always wait for the item to ship, sometimes the item is so small, it seems ludicrous to have it shipped. Some of the associates at this store are friendly and helpful (the reason for the three star Associate Helpfulness), but some are surly, or busy chatting with other associates. Sometimes, it's just easier to go to my local Ace Hardware, pay more and get personal service to get what I need.

Best customer service
My husband and I arrived at the store near closing hours after a long day at work and driving from another Home Depot store 15 miles away to the Emeryville location for tiles that only this location has in stock. Instead of the employees being annoyed by last minute shoppers when we approached them for assistance, they went out of their way to help us to locate what we needed and didn't make us feel that we were bothering them. An employee took interest in our project and offered some very helpful advice which was much appreciated.

Pay attention
I want to share something. I was in the store at about 5 p.m. today. I approached the self service and there was a lady who was in front of me but was not checking out. She just got a cold drink from a fridge that was in between two of the check out stations. There was a Home Depot employee manning the area but engaged in a loud conversation with someone. Staying in the same tone of voice , when I moved up to the station she yelled at me , if I was with the woman that picked up the cold drink. I told her , I was not and continued to check out. She yelled at me again "Ma'm, did you get your receipt. I told her yes. She did not really stop this loud conversation that had nothing to do with work. It irritated me and seemed ridiculous and pointless. If she had been focused on her work , she would have known whether I was with the other woman. It seemed foolish because we were both pushing separate baskets and not close enough to be together..It was clear that whatever she thought she was doing in relation to her job and personal conversation did not work out.

I came in with a list of items I needed and the store is so big I didn't know where to begin. Luckily a young lady by the name of Porsche told me what aisle to go on for everything. She was super polite and greeted me with a big smile. I was able to leave with everything on my list. It was quick and easy!
