Can these be installed directly into 1/2" PVC tubing?

Yes. That’s how I water my roses

Tapper needed?

The threaded barb on this sprayer is designed to fit poly tubing and semi-rigid risers, not PVC pipe; but if you drill a hole slightly smaller than the threads, it should turn into the hole and should work just fine.

It says in the specs that these are adjustable, how?

The only adjustment is by turning the device once installed to the direction you want the spray since it is set for 180 degrees.

I don't know what you consider small but these are meant more for a garden or flower beds etc. You'll most likely do better by using a hose, timer, and lawn sprinkler, that is of course unless you live in Texas then small is 20 acres.

How are these installed?

I would suggest you search the internet for how to install drip irrigation. There are numerous choices such as the spray jets your inquiring about which can be hooked up with different drip rates, 360 degree sprayers, etc. Home depot carries all of it but first decide how involved you want to get.

I wish that I could have found this item in my local store. After searching locations within a 20 mile radius I finally ordered online. The item did meet my expectations.

Works great
Bought 30 of these heads to use to water part of a grass strip between the fence and driveway, about 2' wide by 120' long or so. Spaced them 4' apart (now that its done, could have gone 5'+) on an old garden hose and they work great, stronger and larger spray than I was expecting. Used a drip line punch to make holes directly in the garden hose and screwed them directly into the hose, no issues. Did use a strainer on the incoming end since its pond water off of my pasture sprinkler line. Very impressed, especially since the pressure at that point is pretty darn low, no more than 15psi or so. Exceeded my expectations. Will be using them in other places now!

Works as expected
I chopped off the top of one of my sprayers with my lawnmower so I bought these as replacements. They work well, just like the original ones.
