Do it have a on and off switch? Also, is it self priming?

Answer

No on/off switch, and it is not self priming. Priming the pump is very easy though.

Can this be left outdoors?

Its not recommended to be left outdoors. It is not very weather resistant or submersible.

This pump works well with the proper intake. I tried a reinforced hose as suggested in the manual. However, with mild outdoor temperatures, the hose was soft by midday and was squeezing the hose shut. Also, the included adapter falls off easily which is fine if you can easily retrieve it. My scenario did not bode well with this adapter and I ended up losing it. In the end, I wrapped a couple layers of screen around the end of the intake hose and was able to finish the job. Priming the pump was new to me but easy enough. Overall, I was happy with the pump and would recommend it for specific scenarios. Typically, my sump pump is my go-to pump.

So far so good. It is pumping fine and has already lasted longer than the submersible pumps I tried before for this application. Hopefully it will continue to do so.

I used this for my kids inflatable water slide. Rather than use the water hose and constantly run water from the house I used this pump to recirculate what was already there. It worked great until it overheated and shut off. It has an internal safety that will shut it off when it gets too hot. It was sitting in the sun for a few hours and running, so I bet that had alot to do with it. It'll be in the shade next time. Assembled really well, easy to use. Instead of using the top priming plug, I just sealed that up and put water through the inlet first to prime it, then connect the hose. Seems easier to do that way. I have no issues with it. Only reason for 4 stars was the overheating.
