Clearly Secure Glass Block Windows come fully assembled to fit a variety of opening sizes and can enhance the comfort and appearance of any room. Glass Blocks are a special building material made of glass and laid similarly to brick or concrete block. For residential purposes glass block windows are commonly used as a basement replacement window but are also ideal for bathrooms, kitchens, sidelights, transoms, garages and much more. They are easily installed in any residential or commercial masonry opening and can also be used in wood frame openings. Clearly Secure Glass block Windows are more difficult for would be thieves to penetrate and thus are considered a more secure alternative to traditional windows. Glass block windows are also considered more energy efficient when compared to traditional plate glass windows.

Clearly Secure windows are not fire rated. If you need fire rated glass block to build a wall or window, Home Depot sells an individual (8 in. x 8 in. x 4 in.) (Actual 7.75 x 7.75 x 3.88 in.) Wave pattern Thickset 60-Minute UL Fire Rated Glass Block. Model Number: WN884T60.

Clearly Secure windows are great for exterior bathroom shower *windows that are surrounded on all 4 sides. but are not suggested for a bathroom walk-in shower "wall". It's recommended to build a shower wall using individual glass block and sealing with urethane grout.

It's not recommended to use Clearly Secure prefabricated windows to build shower walls. Instead, build the wall brick by brick with loose individual glass blocks. In this case, you can use the silicone or mortar installation system. If you decide to use a silicone installation method keep in mind you'll need to finish the joints with grout. This type of project needs to be framed or anchored, at a minimum, on the top of the pony wall and at least one side. For more detailed installation information, search "glass block" on homedepot.com and scroll to the PDF resources section where you will find brochures for each method.

Clearly Secure glass block windows are excellent for shower windows surrounded on all 4 sides. We do not recommend Clearly Secure windows be used for glass block shower walls. If your objective is to build a shower wall, the alternative is to build the wall with individual glass block using the Mortar or ProVantage installation systems. In a shower wall project the joints should be finished with urethane grout. End finishing glass blocks are available in 4-Inch thicknesses in 8-in. x 8-in. size. The glass is not tempered.

Can this be installed with 2 x 4 framing? If so please explain how.

I bought 3 of these windows, one with an integral dryer vent, and they are great. The windows are sized exactly, which makes planning and installing easier. They can be framed or mortared in (I did both) and they bring so much light into the space. Best of all, they are sturdy, heavy duty windows that provide significantly more protection than older, single pane windows.

Window was ordered and installed. It wasn’t until after it was installed that I noticed the blocks were not the same size. The four down on the left side are much larger than the rest of the blocks. It isn’t noticed until I point it out. I’ve never seen this type of window on any other home have different size blocks. It was easy to install and not very heavy. The blocks are not solid glass as they are hollow on the inside.

Love the glass blocks. My contractor put them on my shower wall to allow more light to filter in...
Love the glass blocks. My contractor put them on my shower wall to allow more light to filter in the shower. Gives the bathroom a touch of elegance. Only one thing but not a big deal. Only wish they would’ve stated this so I wouldn’t had been surprised. One row of the glass blocks are a little bigger than the rest, but that was to justify the exact size we order. Still happy with my order.
