The suggestions below are for weekly watering schedule for drip irrigation and micro sprinklers. Turn the water for up to 50 minutes, to one hour, twice per week or up to three times per weeks depending on your drip emitters spacing, plant type, soil type, location and weather. Lager drip emitters spacing, faster draining and lighter soils may require irrigating more frequently and longer than heavy soils with higher clay content with drouth tolerant plants. After a week or two, check the soil, the health of the plants and adjust the watering schedule as needed. If you have an irrigation controller, adjust the irrigation controller program duration or add additional start times. It is just fine to start your drip system at the end of a 5/8 garden hose, but the hose end timer, backflow preventer, and pressure regulator should be installed directly on the faucet then run your garden hose out to where you would like to start your drip system.

Can this be hooked up to a rain barrel?
