Between the nice warm 2700k color temperature, lower profile circuitry, energy efficiency (4 Watts), 15,000 hour lifespan (13.7 years at 3 hrs / day), and 5 year warranty, Ecosmart’s LED candelabra bulbs are a nice replacement for 40 watt, B11 shaped, E12 base, incandescent bulbs. Unfortunately, while labeled “candelabra base” (which should be E12 or 12 millimeter diameter), these LED bulbs don’t fit into all the sockets they should. This is not the first time I’ve had this issue with LED bulbs. And I refuse to mix and match LED and incandescent bulbs in a fixture because it looks ridiculous in my opinion. It would be possible to mix and match if only the LED filament wasn’t considerably longer and brighter than an incandescent candelabra bulb.
These LED bulbs are dimmable; however, depending on the dimmer, you may or may not get the full sweep of the dimmer. The package says to visit www.homedepot.com/ecosmart to look up dimmer capability by searching the item number, but there was no search there (other than to shop products). After leaving feedback on the website to fix it, I Googled “ecosmart LED bulb dimmer compatibility” and only found a pdf for A19 bulbs (that’s the equivalent of a regular sized light bulb). So kind of a dead end. However, I’m using these B11 type LED bulbs with a TG-600 Lutron toggle dimmer for incandescent and halogens only, and it seems compatible (Ecosmart’s A19 LED bulbs are compatible with the TG-600 dimmer per the pdf). On the lowest dimmer setting of the TG-600 dimmer, the bulbs are off even though I can still dim the bulbs to low, just not by sweeping to the lowest point of the toggle dimmer.
So these are decent looking bulbs, but with this new LED technology I’m “stuck in the middle with you!” I hope someone or some manufacturer figures out all the little issues soon.
