14 Gal. 6.0-Peak HP NXT Wet/Dry Shop Vacuum with Filter, Hose and Accessories

I was pretty excited to buy this today. The box, the display at the store etc. all show the 3 layer filter. Lo and behold they substituted this filter with the cheaper 1 layer filter .....something about covid-19. I should have got what was advertised when I bought this!! This of course is not Home Depot's fault, but something Ridgid should have tagged the box with a bright colored sticker. When grabbing the box off the shelf the sticker on top of the box is not visible. I will say that the 14gal/6hp vac is really nice though. Just disappointed not to receive what was advertised.

Very nice Vac, we use it for our central vac cleaner system and this bad boy really SUCKS! Assembly is easy and straight forward.

I am not usually one to provide a product review, but this vacuum (and others like it I have owned) deserve a review. Previously, I owned a similar model that was 5.0 peak horsepower that had plenty of suction. That Ridgid vacuum lasted me 14 years and was working perfectly fine until the hose got against a halogen work light and melted. A replacement hose is $40,I needed a new filter at $18, and this new 6.0-Peak Horse Power Ridgid vacuum was on sale for $89, so it didn't really make financial sense not to get a new one. Anyway, this 14 Gal. 6.0-Peak HP NXT Wet Dry Vacuum really sucks. And, I mean that in the best sense possible. If there is a downfall, the only downfall is that the suction is so powerful that you can't vacuum a throw rug, as it just sucks it right up and you can't drag the wand across it to get the dirt. As a construction tool or around my garage, I doubt I'll really use it for that purpose again and I'm pretty confident that it will suck up anything no larger than about 2" around that I don't want to lean down to pick up. I tested it out on some 3" sheetrock screws (vacuums usually won't suck these right up but they just rattle around in the hose until you turn off the vacuum and they drop out on the floor) and they went right on through into the bucket. I've never been thrilled about the stiffness of the hose, but there is no question of their durability - and I've used mine hard over the years. I highly recommend the 12 gallon 5.0 and 14 gallon 6.0 HP Ridgid products as high quality, durable, and powerful. I did buy the 4 gallon 5.0 peak HP version about a year ago but was really disappointed in that one as it didn't have near the same suction of my old 5.0 HP or this current 6.0 HP. I think because it had both a bag and a filter. I ended up keeping the old 5.0 HP one I had and selling the 4 gallon version at a garage sale. I wouldn't recommend that one if you need serious suction. Anyway, I hope this review helps you to make your buying decision. This is a great tool for serious garage dirt and/or to make a construction site "broom clean" in short order.

An ideal designed SHOP VACUUM. The key component of the RIDGID 14 Gal. NXT wet dry vacuum is the locking design for all the vacuum attachments and vacuum hose. This allows you to lead the wet dry vacuum around by its tether (vacuum hose). It is frustrating to clean the shop or the car and tug on the hose only to have it pull out. The Ridgid NXT solved this problem by designing a lock system into every piece of the NXT system. Arrival: The vacuum arrives broken down in the box, some assembly is required; only a phillip screwdriver is needed. Design: The 14 gallon drum has some slight differences to regular Ridgid wet dry vacuums. It's a little shorter and a little fatter in the mid section. I assume this is to provide a little more stability. There are two hand-holds near the bottom for lifting of the NXT. The NXT come with casters that easily pop in the bottom, however, the bottom of the NXT was also design to be used without the casters. Some folks like to use wet dry vacuums as a dust collector in the shop; the NXT can be set in the shop this way thanks to the design of the bottom of the drum. There is a bottom drain for ease of draining liquids, however, to empty the drum of solids will require the removal of all the attachment accessories or risk loosing them in the trash with the contents of the drum. This is a design issue that is difficult to get around. There is little option to design an on-board accessory tool caddy that is not obtrusive or can keep the accessories in place when dumping the drum. The 20 foot power cord combined with the 7 foot 2-1/2 inch vacuum hose give plenty of reach. I like the top mounted handle that allows easy removal of the powerhead and also provides storage for the power cord. The accessory caddy is a great feature to store the accessories out of the way and I also appreciate the side hose clips to store the 2-1/2 inch hose versus unraveled on the floor. Performance: Dry performance is great! The NXT is a workhorse easily picking up saw dust littered with construction nails. The filter performance is very good as well catching sheetrock dust without and filter leaks. I appreciate the design of the inlet deflector inside the vacuum head to prevent debris hitting the filter directly. This also helps prevent the filter from "loading up". Wet performance requires removing the included 3-layer pleated dust filter (included) and installing the Ridgid wet application foam filter (not included). Picking up water on the floor with the included floor wet nozzle is not chore for the NXT. I washed down the shop floor and easily extracted standing water out of the corners in the shop. The NXT does have a blower port but the powerhead does not detach from the drum lid so to use the NXT strictly as a blower requires either the head remain attached to the drum or walk around with the entire drum head. The blower performance is great as well and another plus on the hose and accessory locks - everything stays connected under the pressure of the blower! The operating noise of the NXT is average of what you can expect for a wet dry vacuum.

Very happy to get this new 14 gallon Ridgid shop vac. The 16 gallon Ridgid I have had for about ten years is great and has proven to be awesome and powerful unit but is just way too big to take on smaller jobs. It has been taking up too much space in my truck. This new one can be picked up with one hand with a smaller footprint and has pretty much the same power, not to mention that all of the attachments from my larger one work on this one as well. Ridgid has proven over the years to be quality in my eyes with many of their tools. Have been using Ridgid tools in excess of 40 years and will continue to use them. This one is 14 gallons and has basically the same size motor as the 16 and the power seems about the same too. Comes with all of the basic attachments and I know from experience how many options there are from this manufacturer. Several different types of filters for different applications are also available. Have even had 40 feet of hose on my old one and could pick up carpet tackstrip nails off the floor. Powerful and dependable. The picture is of my old one that is still awesome after all of this time. I have it picking up a shapers dust from 30 feet away without fail. The new one is on a tile job already earning its keep is why I did not get a picture of it next to the other one. Will update. I just assembled this new Rigid wet-dry tank vacuum. Very easy to assemble and setup for use. It has great easy storage for the pick-up hose, wands, and tool accessories. Also the electrical cord has wrap around storage on the carry handle. Also the electrical cord is a nice 20 foot length that makes it easy to move the vacuum around a large room. It also has a powerful vacuum suction to pick-up water, debris, and sawdust. I also like the drain on the bottom of the tank.It is convenient and easy to use. The unit itself is reasonably light weight to maneuver around. The tank capacity is significantly large for all my uses.

This RIGID is the best of the best. It will pick up everything that will fit in its rather large sized vacuum hose. RIGID made all the right decisions when putting this together. This vacuum has places to store every accessory that comes with it. The suction it has is amazing. Put the house on the outlet, and you have a commendable leaf blower. I was not much missing any screws, but 4 more would have been nice. The instructions do not hacve you put screws in the caster feet. If you put them there, you will not have enough screws to put the shop vac together. Rigid provides a nice carrying handle, but recommend you not use it if the shop vac is full. Now for the best part: all the accessories including the hose, lock in place. So if you are like me, and drag the vacuum around by it’s hose while using it, the will not com unattached! Rigid listened to what their customers wanted, and put out a great product. I tested it with water pickup as well and it performed awesome. Just remember to take the filter out if you are sucking up more than a puddle. I highly recommend this Rigid 14 gallon Wet/Dry Vac.

This very new NXT Rigid 14gal 6.0 HP wet /dry vac is awesome! fantastic power and with some new features that my older Rigid model same exact type doesn't have.The barrel I guess you would say, is shorter but bigger in diameter, and is supposed to increase suction, and believe me this thing is very powerful. But what was a very noticeable improvement were these ridges they incorporated on the inlet attachment port and on the wands that prevent the hose or extensions from coming apart while using them, and a simple lever allows you to separate them when you are ready to, I have included a few pictures. I'm sort of on the fence rather I like the lifting handle vertical as opposed to the horizontal handle on top of the unit, its just different maybe its no big deal. The attachment caddy that comes with it is very nice much better than on my older unit, and there are 2 pieces you mount on top that hold the wands while not in use. Which brings me to my only complaint, When you ship someone a product all the parts need to be there, this is a pet peave to me, I do not like going back to the hardware store to try and find the right size screws just because someone didn't do their job when packaging the product. So I was unable to install the wand holders on the unit until I go out and purchase some. Its just a pain, but not a deal breaker just needed to be brought to their attention. I have a variety of brands in my shop, and Rigid is one of my favorites, and the lifetime service agreement is unbeatable! You cant go wrong with this new unit in your shop or home.

I use these vacuums both at the job, in shop setting and at home and they never seem to fail and let me down. Must have, well priced, must buy. Also there lifetime warranty is pretty good if you register it online. Can’t beat it
