Big hands may be a problem
Basically this drill is very well made, works like a charm, but, if you have large hands and thick trigger finger, it's likely that your trigger finger will often hit the direction buttons thereby shifting the direction of rotation to neutral or to counterclockwise or to clockwise. This is very aggravating and potentially dangerous if you're using your other hand to hang onto a ladder rung or elsewhere to maintain your position and/or balance. I put up with this one shortcoming for two years before switching to another cordless drill.

Waay better than expected!
Im a tool snob and a professional user on industrial jobs. I needed this in a pinch. Even on a small 2.0 battery, this thing has surprising power and run time. I will definitely buy more Ridgid 18v. BTW the charger flashing is normal. Read the instructions. Its different from some other charger light indicators. Hope this helps!

I have two main hand drills that I use: one is a heavy-duty yellow and black one that will easily power through a slab of concrete, but you wouldn't want to hold it overhead. The other is an orange and black light duty model that is great for small jobs, but its battery is getting old and there are no replacements. This Ridgid drill happily straddles the two. It is almost as light as the small one, and almost as powerful as the big one. Technology marches on, I guess. Feature-wise, this drill has everything except hammer-mode, which honestly I use very seldom anyway. The drill comes with a screwdriver bit, but no place to keep it, which is my only nit. Where you would expect to find the bit-holder is instead a well-located light. The charger is wall-mountable, the first I've seen, a nice touch. Since Ridgid is a Home Depot brand, I would expect replacement batteries to be readily available. I'd say this drill could replace both my old ones.

It comes in its own case, along with the battery and charger. It also comes with the standard drill/screw tip bit.
For me, this will be a home use power tool. It was a little weighty at approximately 3lbs, but it is far lighter than my old drill.
From the specs on this, I could see this being commercial grade and used in that capacity. It has two speed settings, hex grip and even a LED light. With the proper bit, this drill can do whatever you need it to do.
Also, per the directions booklet, you get free batteries, parts and service for the life of this drill when registering it with Rigid.

I really like this drill. There are several features that make it a great buy. Like all the Ridgid power tools I have bought, this one comes with a nice carrying case. It came with a battery and a charger (actually a big deal these days). The battery has a charge indicator that is easy to read. The drill has a nice balance with the battery is connected. The grip part of the chuck is large so it is easy to tighten and loosen. The drill has plenty of power. As you can see in the pictures, I drove a 1/2 inch drill bit through a pressure treated 4x4 with no problems.It also has a clutch you can set to allow you to drive screws to the right depth before it slips and stops driving. There is a light to illuminate the work area.. Another great feature is that the battery is compatible with other Ridgid products. I already own an impact driver and the battery fit right on and worked perfectly. That way on those long days srewing deck boards down you can keep both batteries charing and working. This is a good product and I would recommend it without hesitation.

Ridgid has made a very nice cordless drill/driver that has good weight and balance. My family has some corded Ridgid brand tools and they have lasted many years. This cordless model has plenty of power for any job. The keyless chuck works smoothly and the handle is comfortable and the tool is well-balanced. The battery is easy to remove by sqeezing the tabs on each side. A nice soft-sided carrying case is included that fits the tool, battery and charger. I wish it came with two batteries so you could keep working with one battery on the charger and one in the tool.

Compact, powerful, stylish! I wasn't sure I needed another Drill/Driver but decided to give this new RIGID 18 volt product a try. Initial impressions are very favorable. Pros: very nice storage and carrying case; very impressed with the compact design; lightweight; bright LED "task" lights. Cons: only 1 battery included and capacity is only 2 Amp-hour (but a nice LED battery gauge so I can see current charge).
See my picture which compares dimensions to a much older "blue" 18 volt product also from Home Depot. Dimensions of this RIGID product are 8.75 inches tall (same as older product), but only 7 inches from back of motor to chuck (a nice improvement). Drill and included battery weigh just under 3 pounds, battery alone is 15 ounces.

The 18 volt lithium ion brushless drill is durable, powerful and perfect for any project whether for do-it-yourself or professional level jobs. The light that illuminates during use is helpful to visualize the desired location and even though it’s super powerful , it’s surprisingly quiet which I like.
