We're missing the point here. If, and only if, "your own" charger is a Ryobi (and Ryobit seems to have a lock on 18V cordless tools) then use that one. If you have not Ryobi charger, your search has led you to the wrong tool. Search instead for Ryobi Cordless tree saw KIT. You want the one with battery and charge not the bare tool. After that you can add other Ryobi cordless tools in bare form for less than their corresponding kits. See? Don't purchase battery and charger independently of a tool unless you simply want pay extra.
You can get batteries for these one plus units off brand on E-Bay for some good prices. Work good for the price, but some are Ni-Mh ( Nickel-Metal Hydride) These will not charge on a Lithium Charger, but will on a Dual Chemistry ONE + charger, like a P117, that I have used. P118B would not work (Like the one that comes with The saw.
Today is Sunday 8/23/2020. And they have it available as tool only without the battery and charger and you save $20. I'm sitting here trying to figure out if that's a good deal because I wouldn't mind having an extra battery. Finally, I'm presuming that if I go out on a "limb" and buy this and I do not like it that I can return it within something like 30 days.
it makes a huge mess!! after reading back through the, manual they tell you to drain the oil tank before putting away, so this is a known problem, but no word in the advertising. I surely would not have bought something like this had I known. I am currently trying to get through to the repair service, but the terrible on hold music goes on for a half hour, then they give a message no service reps available and hung up. I'll try again tomorrow. Between that and a defective battery, which they are replacing, but the small reserve power, (1.3 amp ???) is ridiculous on a tool that works hard and draws down the power so fast. just a ploy to get you to buy a larger battery. I am really disappointed in Home Depot for representing this junk! Keep your eyes open on this one!!
*This* product listing clearly states in its title "Battery and Charger Not Included". If you need a battery, go to the listing that says charger and battery are included.
Depends on what you consider "proper sized".
Hi, Rwg- Thanks fo the question. It should be fine- just avoid getting any part of the unit wet. We hope this helps!
I would say no! I bought this product back in June, which came with the battery and charger, but so far, I can only cut maybe three 3" limbs per charge. Although, it does charge pretty quickly, I would not have bought this product if I had known that is all I could cut per charge.
Hi, Steffie- Thanks for the question. With the extension pole, it's 9.5 feet long for a reach of about 12 feet. With the pole removed, it's 6.5 ft. long with a reach of about 9 feet. We hope this helps!
It does NOT come with bar lube, and absolutely is required. you will need to add that to your order.
