A: this lumber is not treated, its only kiln dried. There are no chemicals on it and its 100% natural. It can be painted for exterior use.

A: I used this same paint and I didn't seal the knots in my piece, I guess it depends on what your using it for, as I used mine for 3 small indoor accent shelves
