Q:Is this lath iron? I need something that would be attached to a strong commercial magnet for dragging to magnetically pick up nails, screws off of roadway. Stainless doesn?t have the magnetic quality I need.

A:  Yes, metal lath can be a component in building forms, but you build it as an outer layer on top of another material, such as existing concrete, wood, styrofoam. e.g. see youtube 'creating concrete' "How to make rocks from styrofoam"

    A:  Old school concrete nails are a pain to use. I would use Tapcon screws. The 3/16" washer head should work fine. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Tapcon-3-16-in-x-1-1-4-in-Hex-Washer-Head-Concrete-Anchors-75-Pack-24300/100209254

      Q:The answer saying sharp/tears paws up to ? about using as screen for pit bull might answer my question. Tree guy said use under mulch around newly planted tree to keep neighbor cats from pooping there. But I don?t really want to harm them. Any opinions?
