A:  This wallplate will cover a standard double gang electrical box as it measures 5.25" height and 5.3125" width. This configuration is for a toggle light switch on one side and a rocker or decor outlet or GFCI on the other side. I am not sure your 3 x 1.5 inch measurement, but the wallplate will work to cover that size.

A:  Hello Bill! All of our wallplates are designed to mount to the electrical device which is then mounted to the electrical box. It seems your electrical box is crowded with wires making the device stick out from the wall. One option is to look to trim the wires insdie your box to save space and get the device to fit against the electrcal box and use a standard wallplate - the other option is to search for a "deep recess" wallplate which is not how devices are designed and will put the mounting pressure on the wallplate.

A:  This wall plate is oversized only in the x-y direction. The z-direction is the same as a regular wall plate so it will not hide the space behind the plate from an outlet box that sticks out too far.
