A: "Compacting" the towing arm would require partial disassembly of the spreader. The towing gear supports the spreading adjustment and other items, making it a time-consuming process not worth the effort. Recommend that you try setting the spreader on it's back, with the tow bar pointing straight up to keep the on-the-floor storage footprint small, or hang it high on a wall, with towbar pointed up or down.
A: No, the tow arm would need to disassembled to compact it. I just hang mine up on the garage wall for winter storage
A: Negative. It is designed for seed and granulated fertilizer/lawn care products.
A: Dear JZ - Thank you for considering an Agri-Fab spreader for your application. At this time Agri-Fab does not manufacture a spreader capable of distributing compost. I will forward your request to our product development team for review.
A: Dear Erbies - Thank you for your interest in the Agri-Fab tow spreader. Sand is not recommended in Agri-Fab spreaders as it easily clogs and causes the spreader to bind. Fertilizer, herbicide, ice melt and grass seed make excellent use of a spreader. If you have additional questions please contact the Agri-Fab customer care team at 800-448-9282 Monday - Friday between 7 am to 5 pm CST.
A: Fertilizer, yes. Sand would probably be too fine to work in it.
A: Works well with grass seed. Start out with a setting that is about half the desired rate and apply in one direction, then apply in a cross direction for uniform distribution.
A: Yes, this spreader works with grass seeds.
A: Yes
A: Yes I just used it to spread 2 bags in my yard yesterday
A: Yes
A: Dear Scott - Thank you for considering the Agri-Fab broadcast spreader for your winter needs. Yes the 100 lb. spreader will spread salt and ice melt in addition to grass seed and fertilizer. You may want to purchase the optional hopper cover part # 40883 to keep your spreading material dry especially during the winter. To order the hopper cover or for any additional information or assembly questions please contact the Agri-Fab customer care team at 800-448-9282 between the hours of 7 am to 5 pm CST Monday thru Friday.
A: Probably...if the salt is granular.
A: Yes, they are pneumatic.
A: Thank you for your question regarding the Agri-Fab 100 lb. tow broadcast spreader. The tires are pneumatic / air filled to allow for smooth transport.
A: Hard rubber.
A: They require air.
A: This is the 100,000 question. The gears: aluminum ring and steel pinion. Axel is solid 1/2" steel. I was put off at first with them being exposed, but it's better than most anything else at 1/2 the price. I priced the replacement parts before I bought the unit...they are reasonably priced.
A: Metal
A: Hi Rick, The gears and axle are metal. This is a well built spreader and I feel confident you will be satisfied with the purchase. Be sure to wash it off EACH time you use it and keep the gears lubed properly.
A: Steel axle and steel gears. The broadcast plate is plastic.
A: The gears are exposed. Small spur gear is either plastic or unknown metal. Large sprocket gear is galvanized metal. With lots of bearing grease applied, they do not appear to be wearing or deforming.
A: Aluminum drive steel spindle .
A: Steel
