A:  1" deep? Sounds like a False vent so the size would be 16x20 -- as a True vent has the frame plus the 2 1/2" deep vent box so that is different size --- If you are unsure -- You are more than welcome to call us we can help you figure that out

A:  The face frame size is 18 in X 26 in

A:  I returned this wooden vent and purchased the metal galvanized white finish vent. This wooden gable vent is of poor quality and requires too much work to re-enforce and finish before installation.

A:  It can be mounted to exterior side of house and a frame isn't required.

A:  Yes this will accept stain

A:  Yes, I stained the 2 we bought. I did great.

A:  Yes. It is true cedar and can be painted or stained

A:  Yes, you can stain it. I used a clear sealer on it to retain its cedar look but it will accept color if you want. I used 2 of these on each gable end of my shop. Very happy with them!

A:  The rough opening measure 16" x 24".

A:  I have a vent opening that is 22X34 can you make this size

A:  16" x 24" is the exact size of the frame of the vent, the trim around the vent is about 26" x 18".

A:  Home Depot can order any size or shape you need
