A:  671lf, As long as the shelf is taken care of as it should be then it should not rust. You don't want to use anything abrasive on it such as Soft Scrub, Scrubbing Bubbles, etc. Also, I would recommend drying it off after each shower. Sincerely, your American Standard Consumer Connection Team
