Q:why the sash moves side to side when opening the window?
by|Sep 15, 2023

Answer This Question
A: Thank you for your inquiry. The lower sash on a 100 Series single-hung window will have some movement in the track. This is not a manufacturing defect and shouldn't affect the operation of the window. The movement of the lower sash allows the removal and reinstallation of the sash in the event the sash or balancers need to be replaced. Being a single-hung window without removable jamb liners or a tilt feature, the sash would be very difficult to remove if there wasn't some play to allow side-to-side movement. The lower sash is designed with weatherstrip on all sides to hold it within the window track and prevent air infiltration.
