Answer This Question
A: Thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot.
Wired Video Doorbell (312018977) takes the place of a wired chime and would be installed in place of one.
We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future.

A: If you mount horizontally, you will probably need to adjust the video to rotate so it appears upright. Arlo support could help. Camera works just like your other Arlo devices, with smart zones, motion sensing and alerts.

A: I see no reason it can't be mounted sideways. It does detect motion and notify the app without the doorbell button getting pressed.

A: I did some research via the Arlo community. If the Arlo video doorbell is mounted horizontally, the recorded video as well as live streaming will be at a 90 degree angle. There is no way to rotate the view. As for detecting motion and sending notification without pressing the doorbell, it does. Great for when deliveries are made but they don't press the doorbell. On the other hand, it will detect any and all motion for which you set it. I have mine set for people and get several notifications when the grass is being mowed in the front yard or I'm doing something within range of my doorbell.
