Answer This Question
A: Hi there, thank you for your questions. Yes, you can apply our Cabinet, Door & Trim Enamel over an oil-based primer. I'd like to mention that the paint is a stand-alone product that does not require a topcoat. However, you can apply our Fast-Drying Water-Based Polyurethane for added durability and protection. A: Hi Amna, thank you for your question. I'm sorry to hear that your color didn't turn out as expected, and I can understand why you'd like to have that made a bit darker. I recommend reaching out to your local Home Depot for more information on whether they can tint the paint further to make that a bit darker. That should be fine so long as you do not go above 6oz. of color in total per gallon for our Cabinet, Door & Trim Enamel in the White Base. Have a great day! -Lina

Q:The doors and trim are oil based and I know they need some sanding but is that dangerous to sand oil based paint. Would I need only one coat of primer? If I do more than one coat do each coat have to thoroughly dry before applying each coat?

Answer This Question
A: Hi Bellz, thank you for your question. When applying the Cabinet, Door and Trim Paint, we recommend one coat of primer and two coats of paint. Additional primer coats can be applied. However, it's important to not apply the paint until after the primer has dried and the recoat time has passed. Inhaling sanding dust can be dangerous, so a NIOSH-approved respirator should be worn. Have a great day! - Randy
