Q:Why does the description say 3 month life all of a sudden? The packaging clearly states 6 months life. Are you getting greedy or does your product not perform as well as advertised? Either way it's NOT GOOD.

Q:HOW MANY MICRONS IS THIS FILTER? It's very confusing the flow rate seems to match 5 micron and most places advertise 5 microns, but the product's packaging itself says 15 MICRON - 30 MICRON??? I want an official answer from Brita themselves to clear this up once and for all.

A:  Hello. Thank you for this inquiry. As stated on the Brita Universal Heavy Duty Carbon Wrap 2-Phase Cartridge package this filter reduces medium sediment particles (15 to <30 micron). We apologize for the confusion if you have noted some locations advertising 5 microns.

A:  Hello. Thank you for this inquiry. This Brita Whole House Carbon Wrap Filter does not remove lead. It is Certified to NSF/ANSI 42 Standards and removes particulates, such as sediment, and does improve the taste of one's water.

        Q:Will this filter PFAS?
        by|Sep 10, 2018

        Answer This Question

A:  PFAS is a family of contaminants resulting from industrial processes and other sources. The EPA current standard for PFAS in public water is less than 70 parts per trillion (70PPT). Water remediation of PFAS is done with activated carbon filtration and in highly industrialized filtering systems using liquid carbon filtration. The goal is to get PFAS concentrations down to zero. Since the EPA has set a standard, your local water municipality must be compliant with that standard and there are a multitude of variables based on where you live, the quality control in the local water authority, proximity to industrial discharge, and so on. That being said, the water in your area should already meet the EPA standard but any additional activated carbon filtration at the point of use can only help to improve your water quality. This filter does contain activated carbon so it meets that objective. I do not know how efficient this filter is or how often it must be changed out to maintain its effectiveness though the manufacturer recommends replacement every 3 months. You could ask your local water authority what their published water quality is specific to PFAS and make your own determination. Bottom line activated carbon filtration does help to remove PFAS from drinking water. Hope this is helpful.
