Q:Does it have a damper? So when it?s in the off mode outside air does not come back in.

A:  Hi Tony, Thank you for your question on model 511. This is a room to room model and should not be installed on an exterior wall. There is no cover that can be used on either side to stop air the air exchange when the unit is off.

    A:  No-this is not for exterior use.  There is no way to shut the airflow.

      A:  We used it to replace an old ceiling fan in a mfg home bathroom. So I ran it through the existing vent in the roof. Works great and no leakage of any kind.

        A:  Yes, I did. had basement bathroom with exterior wall, but no simple route through ceiling. This worked great. Not super quiet, but I put it on a timer.

            A:  The 510 is a through-the-wall room to room fan. It has an adjustable housing to fits walls from 3" to 5½" thick. It offers 380 CFM so it can move a lot of air. The sone rating is 8.5 so the noise level will be noticeable. However, the speed of the fan can be used with a variable speed control switch. If this unit is too large for the room, you might consider model 512.               A:  There is only 1 grilled approved for use with this fan and that is the grille it comes with.

                        Q:Hi there, could you please tell me what is diameter of the blades only? my existing fan does not have the motor housing and grille housing. It is directly installed in a round hole on the wall. The hole is 7" 1/4. If the blades diameter is less than 7"1/4, i think i can replace it with this model, without using the housings. Appreciate your answer. -Jinshu
