Q:What would be a suggestion for making the glass blocks more opaque. For our preference, the blocks are just slightly too revealing for privacy.

Answer This Question
A: Hi Jack, if you would like a more private pattern then please check out the ice pattern series for this window (model # 3636SIC). If this wave pattern window is already installed, then consider using a glass etching spray, etch kit, or window film to achieve your desired privacy level.

Q:Can I stack three (3) 38.75’ x 23.25 units together to make a shower wall window. This would be framed on all sides by 2” x 4” framing

Answer This Question
A: Yes, these windows can be stacked together if they are combined using a silicone seam kit (see Internet # 301230204) and then framed on all sides. However, we generally recommend installing glass block piece by piece using a mortar or silicone installation system if the intended application is a wall. In general, installing the glass block piece by piece will provide a sturdier structure, allow you to grout between the block (if that is your preference) and will be more likely to meet local building codes regarding shower walls. Thank You!

Q:How do you replace a single cracked block within a outside wall bathroom window? Does the entire window need to be replaced?
by|Dec 18, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: In general, we cannot recommend attempting to replace a single cracked glass block as there is no guarantee that the attempt won't cause damage to the surrounding glass blocks or that the new glass block will be properly sealed in place. An attempt to replace the block would involve gently (as possible) "cutting out" the glass block at the seams from the inside and outside. The "cutting out" part will vary depending on the assembly of the glass block window. Some glass block windows are built with only mortar, some with mortar and steel accessories, some with silicone, and some with silicone and silicone accessories. Your process for removing the block will vary depending on this assembly and on the location of the block. Please give us a call for further help. Thank You!

Q:Can this be used as a free standing( 1 side against a wall ) dividing wall 2’ X 4’
by|Oct 17, 2023

Answer This Question
A: Hi John, we typically recommend installing the glass block piece by piece using mortar, silicone installation kit, or with perimeter channels if you want to build a free standing wall. It's generally more secure than using a pre-assembled glass block window as a free standing wall.

Q:My window is 51.25 inches by 51.25 inches. Which of your products would you recommend, or what combination?
by|Oct 6, 2023

Answer This Question
A: Hello JeJo, four of these 25 in. x 25 in. windows would be create a 50 in x 50 in window combination that would fit within your opening and leave room for mortar. However, the 25 in. x 25 in. window is comprised of blocks varying in size - please refer to the diagram in the image section for details. There is no combination of windows that will create a perfectly uniform glass block window for this size. Please consider installing the window piece by piece instead if you wish to achieve a certain uniformity or pattern in the window. We would be more than happy to take any calls to better assist you with this unique project. Thank You!
