Answer This Question
A: Hi Nesh,
Thank you for your question. Our plants are strictly meant for decorative purposes. Costa Farms plants are not intended for human or animal consumption. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Even if a plant is classified as non-toxic someone might have individual allergies that are not known. If ingested or used topically, they could be toxic. We ask that all plants be kept out of the reach of pets and children and never used for medicinal purposes.

Q:How do I get my fiddle leaf fig to branch. Do I cut the top off? or will that kill

Answer This Question
A: Pick your desired location for the branch. Use clean pruning shears to make a small cut above the node closest to that location. If you see white sap that means you did it right. This is called "notching". You can also cut the top of the plant where there is new growth if you want your branch to grow there. This is called "pinching".

A: Mine already had growth started. I just left it alone and it now has new growth and looks very good. I just followed the rule to make sure that it has enough light so there’s no shadow around it.

A: Yes, you can nip off the tip / top few leaves of the trunk to encourage new growth. Another process is called notching, where you make a small cut into the trunk just above a bud you want to branch. This will trick the tree into branching out at this point.
