A: The 5 lb box has 453 screws so the 1 lb box should be 90-91 screws per box not 126. So there is obviously an error here

A: There are not 126 and the product description is not accurate in that the screws are not #8. I too would expect the information would be accurate. HD has been notified of the error and they have failed to correct it. Try Lowe?s as their info is accurate.

A: The box doesn't give a weight limit. A screw in a stud generally could hold around 90lbs each, or 180 for 2 screws, etc. These are quality screws, I think the material you are attaching it to would break before the screw did in most cases.

Q:Can the deckmate screws be used to fasten galvanized joist hangers to pressure treated wood? Or do galvanized screws need to be used?

Answer This Question
A: These are not appropriate to fasten galvanized hangers. There are special nails or screws that work much better.

A: This is NOT the screw for that job. While it WILL go in, you should Rightly use a "Pan Head" screw for that purpose. The bevelled head of this screw was intended to stop on on a wood surface - Not a metal one.

A: I bought them be for and they worked so well , I came back and bought them again !

A: This particular screw is primarily to fasten deck boards to the joists. You only need holding power in the lower half of the screw which goes into the joists. The upper half is just penetrating the actual deck board itself. I will take a wild guess here in that it is cheaper to put threads on the lower half of the screw as well. Generally screws that have full threads need a washer and nut to hold fast to something. Hope this helps!!

A: Full thread screws are have Greater "Holding" power. Yet, the screw with the partial Non-threaded shank is intended (and best for) pulling the 1st material tightly against the 2nd: like plywood to a stud or a deck board to the floor joist.
