A:  There is not a gauge to control the depth of the cut/grind.

A:  Yes, you need to use a tile cutting blade.

A:  You could, however, it would not be my tool of choice. I would suggest using a small circular saw with a 4” blade and set up a guide track to assure a perfect straight cut. Using a water bottle to keep the tile cool. Than after the cut, dress it with a stone or diamond paper!?

A:  Your question Can I trim already laid ceramic tiles with this grinder? I need to cut through maybe 3/8" tile, … My suggestion: (1) People use tools like this all the time for things they were never intended to be used for. I would not. (2) If you use this tool with a rubberized cut-off wheel to try to cut tile, it had best be for only a few cuts. Doing so will create lots of (dangerous for your eyes and for your lungs) ceramic dust in the dangerous small (0.004 mm or smaller) sizes for you and your relatives to breathe in. This is really a tool for working metal, my experience is that any abrasive cut-off wheel will bounce around and be even harder to control than you expect. You'll likely not be happy with the resulting trims and cuts. (3) If you're going to cut a lot of ceramic tiles, and you want to do this correctly and have a good finish on the tiles; I suggest you rent a wet diamond-bladed lower speed circular saw, and keep the zone of where you are cutting wet with a water hose that trickles water in the zone where you need it, and with a continuous "splash of water" on the blade, and have a helper collect the slurry and water with a "wet or dry Shop-Vac" as you go to minimize the mess. These cut cleanly thru the tiles with water on them and thus generate wet slurry that captures the fine dust with water, so that you don't have the risk of breathing it in. good luck

It also should never be used to cut from a side of a cut-off wheel. A:  Your question: What type blade would you use to cut into PVC pipe? My answer: I wouldn't use this kind of tool at all. Its intended for cutting "hard materials" like steel pipe, and steel plate, and thick steel wire. PVC pipe, although it feels hard is comparatively soft, and will melt at a low temperature (~ 300 to 330 F), and thus will gum up almost any abrasive wheel you'd mount into this kind of small angle grinder, at the speeds it runs, in mere seconds. Leaving you with a gouged-up pipe and gummed up cutting wheel. As well, you'd have a face full of fine white powder (PVC powder, which is unhealthy) to contend with, from the ground up pipe. If you only have to cut a few of these: use a hack saw with a coarse blade, and little arm strength. you ought to be able to cut thru 3" (schedule-80) pipe in about 2 minutes, and have a smooth cut. If you have to cut many of these, use a motorized 10" cut-off saw, with a V-block to stabilize the pipe, and a 40+ toothed carbide tipped blade, take your time with each cut, and remember to wear a dust mask. A:  With the right blade, yes.

A:  Yes, with the proper blade! This thing is very powerful!!

A:  If your question is can you cut 1/8th inch thick pipe with this....? answer: With the correct cutting disk - Yes you can use this tool for nominal 1/8" thick wall black iron pipe; although you'll have to turn the pipe as you cut around it. It won't be fast. and it likely will not be square to the axis of the pipe but it will do it if you have the time and determination. I'd consider this tool once or twice for up to 1-1/2 (inside diameter) schedule 80 pipe max... If you have to do a lot cuts, this one will burn thru the cutting discs and you'll have to have a steady hand, and take your time.

A:  I used a diamond blade to cut through concrete so you should be able to cut just about anything.
