The faucet can be installed with the handle on the left side. Please note when doing so the hot and cold water will be reversed.

A: Great question, its designed to push the handle away from yourself in order to adjust the temperature starting from cold to hot then push to the right to create the volume of water needed. I trust that answered your question.

A: Dear JA1, Thank you for your question! We would not advise to switch the handle to the left side for this model as it would affect the position of the light temperature indicator. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you for contacting Delta Faucet and have a great day! Best regards, Tyler

Q:Which way is hot (up or down)? Are there red and blue indicator labels? Our current faucet is hot water with the handle in the up position and cold in the down, and I would like our next faucet to be the same (to avoid confusion and a learning curve). I realize you can run the lines either way, but I wouldn't want it to show a red indicator in the cold water position.

A: Thank you for your question, anniebeagle! The handle on model 9659-AR-DST starts in the coldest position, and is moved upright to make the water hotter. This faucet gets the hottest temperature, when the handle is all the way up. This faucet has a hot/cold indicator on the handle.

A: There are small colored dots about 10 degrees (rotation) to either side of the handle to indicate direction of selected temperature -- with the handle pointing straight up is the full hot water position and 90 degrees down is full cold. The water lines from the faucet that connect to the shutoff valves also have small color-coded rings to help identifying proper connections.
