A:  Yes, the unit has landing pads on the under side that sit on subfloor. I always like to set fiberglass units in Structolite. You put the Structolite on top of the subfloor before the final installation of the pan. This method is also helpful when it comes to leveling the base which is critical for everything else that is built on top of it.

A:  Installation of any DreamLine SlimLine shower base will require you to set the base in a bed of sand-mix mortar. The base should be mortared directly to the sub-floor. DreamLine SlimLine shower bases do not get fastened to the studs with screws or nails, so the mortar bed is required to provide support and stability. Without the required bed of mortar for installation, the warranty on the shower base will be completely voided, the product could become compromised, and you could experience water/mold damage in your home as a result. A:  Yes glass hinged doors may be used, the drain does not come with this unit. It must be purchased separately.

All DreamLine SlimLine bases are designed to accept a standard 2" compression-fitted PVC drain which is a very common plumbing fixture that can be purchased from your local hardware or plumbing supply store. A:  This shower base measures 42" by 36" overall. The threshold is on the 42" side. DreamLine does not make a shower base with the threshold on the short side. A:  You have two choices here.  I chose a fixed glass panel which is easy to install.  In this case, there is no door as such but the panel is mounted at the shower head end and stops the water from splashing outside the base.  It's simple but effective. The fixed panel is sometimes referred to as a "door".  If you want the panel and a door (that opens), you probably should contact a full service glass company to ensure everything fits together and is well supported.  The panel will attach to the wall at one end and the door attaches to the wall at the other end. You need a very solid mounting for the door.  I hope this helps.

A:  DreamLine's Double threshold 36" by 36" shower base has a preset drain that is 12" by 12" from the edge of the base. It can be used for either a left or right installation. It is often used with acrylic wall panels that are adhered to backer board that is installed after the base is installed. Without knowing the type of panels you are referencing, it is difficult to say if they will work with this base. A:  No, this base is not able to be used for 3 sides that are glass. DreamLine does not make a triple threshold shower base, which would allow glass on 3 sides at this time. A:  Thank you for reaching out to DreamLine. DreamLine's SlimLine bases are very durable, but as stated in the installation manual, they must be set in a bed of sand-mix mortar. This mortar provides stability to the base and also locks it to your sub-floor. If there is no mortar under the base, it is installed incorrectly, the improper installation could result in damage, and the shower base is out of warranty. We strongly recommend that the shower base is uninstalled and re-installed per the installation instructions. If your contractor drilled holes in the tile flanges of the base and fastened the base to your studs with screws or nails, the base should be discarded and replaced is this could likely result in damage and also voids the warranty on the product.
