A: Yes, you can put them side-by-side but you would need some kind of bracket or wire to hook them together so that they stayed in alignment. They don't come with a mechanism to directly connect them.

A: It is hollow and can hold about 20 lbs of weight. Hanging plants are not recommended.

A: Elmwood the slats are woven so not as thick. Providence they are overlaid and a bit thicker.
