A:  Yes the sides fold down. However read the reviews after 2 Years the heat tents will disintegrate and the brackets that hold up the heat tents will break off. Only buy this grill if you want to buy a new one in two years.

A:  Not completely assembled but not a big deal to put together

A:  I purchased the more expensive Weber grill because I wanted something with better construction and higher quality materials. I've had my Weber grill for just over a year, so it's too soon to tell what it's true longevity will be, but I will say that it's holding up so much better at this point than my DynaGlo did. As you noted with your cast iron grill box, the heavier construction is key. Weber's long warranty gives some peace of mind that they stand behind the quality of the product. That made the expense easier to swallow.
