Q:How can you install this to support a countertop overhang that has already been installed? My 8.5" overhang on my laundry room island needs additional support after my son tried to hoist himself up on it.

Q:What is meant by 'properly installing' the corbels to be load-bearing? If the keyholes, even if installed on a stud or into concrete block, can't bear weight then what else can you do? Would I need to counter sink screws through the corbel into a stud (or in my case, through plaster into concrete block) then plug and paint them? I'd like to use these under a shelf for books/plants type stuff, no granite counter tops but could still be a bit heavy. I don't own a router or I'd just rout them to fit over metal brackets. Thanks!

        Answer This Question

A:  Thanks for reaching out and your interest in this product! For a decorative application, the keyholes work great. For a load-bearing application, you want to install into a stud by either toe nailing the corbel from the side. screwing straight through the corbel, or screwing through the wall from behind. We would recommend consulting a professional to assist on-site, for any specific installation questions. Thanks so much and let us know if we can be of further help!

Q:Will this support granite? How many would be needed for a 20 inch by 5 ft bar with 6 inch supported and 14 inch overhang?

          Answer This Question

A:  These brackets can bear weight but how much weight depends on how you install them. If you properly install them, they should be more than able to support a counter top.

Q:I want to do a wall mounted wood desk. How much overhang can these support?

            Answer This Question

A:  Hello! Ideally, you want to make sure at least 2/3rds of your overhang is supported. You will first need to determine how large your desk is going to be, and then choose a bracket that supports 2/3rds of that overhang.

A:  We used the rubber wood and it took the paint beautifully. You will be pleased with the results.

A:  Great question! The Rubberwood option is commonly used for paintable applications because despite being real wood, there isn't a unique grain pattern to this wood species. Also, if they are installed correctly into a proper stud, they can bear weight and under normal circumstances, perfectly fine in this application.

                  Q:can it be used outside

                  Answer This Question

A:  It is not recommended that this wood bracket be used outside as it would be subjected to exposure of the elements. If intended for outside use, to minimize (but not eliminate) weather related wear, it is recommended that a sealer/primer coat (or coats) be applied prior to any staining and or painting. A high quality acrylic latex-based paint is recommended.
