    Q:Why does this have a PVC connection, as opposed to say CPVC? That's not allowed by many codes.

    A:  I wondered this as well. Code specifies that the piping must be CPVC, but the fitting does not. Probably because of how much thicker and shorter it is, it's not as susceptible to heat the way the piping might be.

      A:  I would assume because it's a drain line, not under pressure like a hot or cold water line.

        A:  Generally a 50 gal water heater needs a 30" pan. Most 50 gal water heaters will completely fill the 24' pan which negates the purpose of the pan which is to allow water to drain out in case of a leak.

          A:  This depends on the size of your water heater. Check the diameter and then get a pan that is 1" larger.

                A:  They recommend a 2 “ space around the tank, so a 24” pan should work. I’m happy with my pan.
