A: No gasket or o ring - just use a good amount of Teflon Tape. It is merely an overflow tube in case the HWH malfunctions and boils over.

A: mine did the same use Teflon tape and it still leak call 800 because leak detection turn off heater returning pipe back today

A: I had no trouble getting mine on the valve. It works just fine with no leaks. You might try some Teflon tape on it and see if this fixes the problem.
