A:  The Tri-Ply Smooth membrane is intended to be used in a roof installation. GAF does not have testing or applications specs for this product in an application for a balcony deck, therefore we would not be able to confirm on how it would perform in this application. GAF does have roof coating products that can be applied over smooth modified bitumen membranes such as the Tri-Ply APP Smooth Membrane which you can find a listing of on the www.GAF.com website in the Roof Coatings section.

A:  Using it for a balcony shouldn't be a problem, but just painting may not be enough, because membrane is not designed for high traffic area, I have installed special roof deck pavers over this membrane and it works fine for almost 7 years now.

A:  Yes you can. However, if your going to use this where there could be water, be sure to do a 2 day water test to make sure you have no leaks. Additionally, use a little extra heat on the edges and make sure you have perfect welds on all your joints.

A:  The material warranty would remain in place, however, we do not have any testing to on concrete being poured over Tri-Ply APP Smooth Membrane. Any damages that may occur from this application would not be covered under the material warranty.

A:  Alvin, Thank you for your interest in Tri-Ply APP Smooth. This product is a torched-down asphaltic product that meets ASTM D6222 requirements and has a Minimum thickness of 0.140" (140 mils).

A:  Each Roll is 1 square or 100 square feet.

A:  The Tri-Ply APP Smooth is designed for torch application. Our Tri-Ply SBS products are suited to use an approved asphalt adhesive, or our Liberty products offer a self-adhered solution that does not need adhesives or torches to install. A:  Not that i know of... but you can buy rolls of EPDM and adhesive that tolls onto the roof and the rubber gets glued down so you don't have to use a torch as in this method...

A:  For a self-adhered option, we have the Liberty Product line (Base and Cap sheet) available through your local Home Depot.

A:  YES! And be sure to see a little "juice" or melted material, at the joints. If you haven't done this before, 2 things. First, you will need a torch to lay this down. A roofing supply will have one for sale. It puts out big flame which means you can burn things down! Second, if you still believe you want to do this on your own, take some plywood, install the base sheet and practice applying this roofing system. All joints should be 100% bonded and no scorched base sheet or plywood. Best to keep a live hose handy. Stay around the job for at least 1 hour and check for evidence of smoldering. Depending on what you're doing, most likely you are much better off al least getting the help of someone with experience. Good luck, you will need it!

A:  The Tri-Ply APP Smooth membrane is designed to be torched down to adhere the membrane and seams. Torch products perform very well, but care must be taken to ensure a safe, quality installation. A:  This is not designed for below ground applications.

A:  Sure can, use it where ever just remember if water can get under its a waste. as in if your heating it to something and not properly sealed off it will only come undone. and is not intended for but can be used for.
