Answer This Question
A: Hi,
We'll be happy to explain why this is happening. Starting in 2018, UL (Underwriter's Laboratory) regulations require all electric coil top ranges to have temperature limiting capabilities to reduce the risk of cooktop oil and grease fires. As a result, our electric coil burners now use Sensi-Temp Technology.
Each burner with this technology has a silver medallion with a button (sensor) in the center of the coil. This button must make contact with the bottom of the cookware for the Sensi-Temp Technology to sense the temperature properly. When the sensor detects a pan temperature near the limit (450 degrees F), the burner will shut off automatically until a lower, safe pan temperature is reached. At that point, the burner will resume heating. This will not affect everyday cooking as the automatic shut-off is temporary and only happens at a very high temperature.
During the temporary automatic shut-off:
The burner will cycle ON (bright red) and OFF (dark) to maintain safe cooking temperatures.
When cycling OFF, the burner retains enough heat to continue cooking. The burner will cycle back ON automatically.
This cycling will continue during the entire cooking time. We hope this clears things up. Let us know if you have additional questions. Mike@GEA

A: Hi! Thanks for reaching out. This range is equipped with Sensi-Temp technology. If you'd like to learn more about this feature, you can take a look at an article on our website titled: ELECTRIC RANGE & COOKTOP - COIL BURNER SENSI-TEMP TECHNOLOGY. Each plug-in coil surface element (burner) has a medallion with a button (sensor) in the center of the coil. This button must contact the bottom of the cookware for the Sensi-Temp Technology to sense the temperature properly. When the sensor detects a pan temperature near the limit (450 degree Fahrenheit), the burner will shut off automatically until a lower, safe pan temperature is reached. At that point, heat will resume to the burner. This should not affect everyday cooking as the automatic shut-off is temporary and only happens at very high temperatures. If you have other questions or concerns, know that we're happy to help out! Best wishes. -Michael@GEA

A: Hello. I would suggest reviewing the manual and more specifically the coil top sensi-temp feature ( I think that's what it's called ) and how it operates. Additionally research what cookware works best on coil tops. Hope this helps. Good luck

Answer This Question
A: Hi! Thanks for asking. We do not package the power cord with electric and dual fuel free-standing and slide-in ranges. It is not possible to determine the type of facilities each consumer has available or what the local electrical codes require (ex. 3-wire vs 4-wire). Your installation instructions state that you will need a UL Listed 40 AMP 4-Wire Cord that's 4’ long OR a 3-Wire Cord that's 4’ long.
