Q:does this cap fit a 1/2 inch hole opening?

              Answer This Question

A:  Short answer, no. Long answer, no. The "Slightly tapered plug body to ensure a tight secure fit" will make the plug loose in the 1/2 inch hole. The button head may stop at the 1/2 inch hole but my guess is that it might just go into the hole. You would still have a 'hole' as the button head would be inside the hole and a gap would still exist around the top side of the button head and hole. Also 'cap' would not be the correct reference to this item as it is a plug.
