A: No. Roofing nails have too big of a head for the palm nailer. There are models available specifically for Roofing nails.

Q:Can you use with finish nails?

Answer This Question
A: I would not recommend using the smaller finish nails with this tool it is generally meant for nailing in tight spots with large nails. I use mine for nailing on joist hangers and other structural hardware
by|Mar 7, 2021
A: It would not be recommended to use the palm nailer with a finish nail. The finish nail is thin enough that it would likely get stuck in between the hammer mechanism and the magnetic shroud. Additionally, the hammering action will leave larger than necessary marks on your finish work.

Q:Can this nail on the angle?

Answer This Question
A: I don't understand what is meant by "nail on the angle" but I used mine to punch in joist hanger brackets, which orients the nails some at 90-Deg to the board and some at 45-Deg to the board.
by|Oct 7, 2020
A: It will drive the nail any direction you wish to drive it. Getting it started at an angle may be a little difficult occasionally but once its started the palm nailer can drive it in at an angle if that's how you're holding it. This uses a hammering action, as opposed to a shooting action like a nailer.

Q:Can this be used to sink existing nails? When I removed carpeting from stairs I notice a lot of nails are not sunk to -or slightly below - the surface. Some are on an angle, too.

A: You should be able to use it on most any nail as long as nail head will fit in opening and it is not too tight of space. I have really liked using this tool. Works great and price is good also. Highly recommend and had several friends who liked it as well.
by|Feb 25, 2020
A: No - not by itself. However you could counter sink by using a regular nail set between the palm nailer and the nails, BUT it would be easier and safer just to use a nail set tool and a hammer.

A: It could be that the bolts are loose, I would return it

A: no grease. comes with small bottle of oil. Aside from a couple of drops in the air line before using, you can ocassionally put a drop or 2 down the side of piston area that strikes the nail head. That should be all that's needed.

A: I've used it to drive nails into joist hangers when building my shed (2x6 treated wood), into the roof for hanging gutters, and for assembling the frame (2x4s) on raised garden beds, and have been very impressed with how well it does.
by|Jun 7, 2019
A: 2x4 is what I performed my test nailing with this tool. I was impressed on how it drove the nails
by|Oct 10, 2019
A: Yes, it will certainly drive the nails for you easier than using a hammer. Depending on the amount of work you're doing, using only this tool to drive nails could become quite tiresome after a bit because of the "hammering" action it uses to drive the nails, rather than "shooting" them in like a nail gun.
Choosing a nailer like this Numax could save you a ton of time and fatigue. Its worth considering, especially on a budget, but you can see based on the reviews, its a fantastic tool: https://www.homedepot.com/p/NuMax-Pneumatic-21-Degree-3-1-2-in-Full-Head-Strip-Framing-Nailer-SFR2190/202101759

Q:What are the downsides of the mini palm nailer vs regular size palm nailer? The mini seems to support the same size nails as the bigger ones, but is smaller and significantly less expensive. There must be some downside.

A: Not having used the larger nailer, I can only think the larger 'might' be built to be a
longer lasting tool. I use the small nailer only for tight places and have no trouble with it.
Some Brands cost more, this one did the job for me. I consider it a throw away tool
with it's low price, it was fine for what I use it for. (2x4) etc. Use Oil as Directed, IMPORTANT.
Use proper air supply also and stand back, it will surprise you.

A: I have never used the big ones but this one works great I would guess the larger ones would have more power and that would make them drive a nail faster.
I think this one is will work fine for most DIY'ers . I have driven 16 penny nails with no problems but mostly used it for 8 penny box nails.

A: I have found no downside. I bought it because of it's price and just in case I needed it. Have used it on two different projects and it works fine. Let a friend use it and he like it very much. Buy it you will not be sorry.

A: Only downside is it’s not the most comfortable palm nailer if your gonna use it all day.
It does the job and works perfectly! I used it all day once it did everything I needed it to do! Still have it to use in the future great product for the price !

A: It sucks. I threw it out and used a hammer.

A: Mini palm nailer has a slightly more compact body. Same performance. If you plan on extended use, some will have a comfort grip that can help with hand fatigue.
