Q:Since my pipe is already been installed under ground. Finding the marking would risk more damage. What is the size reference, ID or OD?
It looks like I need to order it, AKA I need to know!
Thanks

Answer This Question
A: Hi, CrazyFrank - Pipe measurements are ID. However, since you have 1-1/4" pipe, it would be good to know the OD as well. This is because that particular size is sometimes used by municipalities and private gas companies using a thicker wall. This is shown by the "SDR" or "DR" reference on the pipe. Most frequently used is SDR-11 and the coupler you reference will work with it. Feel free to call Dave (x1026) or Jon (x1010) at (661) 257-3923 M-F 8a-5p to discuss if you'd like.

A: Hi, Juan - No, the coupler you mention will not work with SDR-10 pipe. However, we do make an SDR-10 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" coupler. Part number 18-429-012-10. It's not a stocking item at Home Depot, but you can order them on homedepot.com (https://www.homedepot.com/s/18-429-012-10?NCNI-5) or from your store's special services or Pro Desk. We do not make any reducer couplings but you can use our 2" and 1-1/4" transition fittings with a 2" x 1-1/4" bell reducer in between them. Note that the transition fittings are SDR-11, however, and won't work with your SDR-10 1 1/4" pipe.

A: When I bought everything for my project I made sure all my fittings and pipe were the same, in my case SDR 11. I don’t believe the homeflex makes reducer. I couldn’t find one. You can buy the underground Transition piece and maybe do it that way

A: Will work for 1.25 " pipe if you have the 1.25 coupler. I don't know about the reducer.

Q:Can these IPS Poly Gas Pipe Couplers be used with galvanized pipes

Answer This Question
A: No this cannot be used on galvanized pipes.
by|Feb 11, 2022
A: It would not be advised as they are UPC approved for Poly connection only.
Typically galvanized piping requires a threaded connection to meet the UPC standard.
by|Feb 10, 2022
A: No they cannot. The internals are all plastic and would not seal properly to galvanized steel.

A: Hi, Preferred - No, the Home Flex Underground fittings should not be used for anything other than D2513 yellow PE gas pipe.

A: No they cannot. Only yellow plastic pipe.

A: No it cannot it only seals to a smooth surface plus after a while the galvanized pipe will start to pit and then the gas will leak out of the pit hole where it will start to rust

Q:Installed in cold weather and inserts were tough to install , used rubber mallet and part of the black insert flange cracked, is this going to cause a problem?

Answer This Question
A: No, that will not cause a problem. The lip of the stiffener is not a part of the seal, so it is OK if part of it broke off. Make sure that the broken piece did not fall into the pipe. That lip stops the stiffener from going too far into the pipe. If you would like to speak to a product specialist, give us a call. (661) 257-3923. We are here from 8-5 Los Angeles Time, M-F. A: Good morning and thanks for your phone call recently on the same subject. As we discussed, we do not make a variable size coupler. However, one may use a combination of Home-Flex transition fittings along with an off-the-shelf reducer coupling available at Home Depot.

Q:Hello,
Does the product include the "stiffener" that is shown in the video? It is not shown in the product images and not specifically listed as an included component. The stiffener is said to be critical to prevent the flex poly pipe from crushing.
Thank you.

A: Yes, each of these fittings comes with the necessary stiffeners. Tees include 3 stiffeners and couplers and elbows include two stiffeners. The stiffeners are in the package with the fitting. They are actually tucked inside the fitting, so they may not be visible when you look at the bag that the fittings are packed in. When you take the fitting out of its package, look inside the fitting and you will see the stiffeners. They are loose inside the fitting and easy to remove. Follow the fitting assembly instructions that are also in the package with the fittings. Be sure to perform your installation in accordance with you local codes.
