Q:How do you clean this floor?
by|Apr 10, 2024

Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your question. For routine we cleaning we recommend using a damp mop with distilled water. For more soiled areas you can mix isopropyl alcohol into the distilled water. I recommend starting with a ratio of 1 part isopropyl alcohol to 5 parts distilled water. If you need a stronger solution you can add more alcohol to the mixture. The full cleaning instructions are available in the Care and Maintenance Guide on the Ashor Hickory's Homedepot.com product page.

Q:Is there any reason why the floor should be glued? Are there any advantages to gluing this floor down versus floating?
    by|Feb 16, 2024
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your question. There are pros and cons to both a floating installation and a glue-down installation, so which is better is mostly down to preference. A floating installation is generally easier to assemble and disassemble, and doesn't require purchasing adhesive and other materials for the installation. A glue-down installation, on the other hand, is more firmly installed and can be used as a subfloor for any future flooring installations. However, uninstalling a floor that has been glued-down can be a taxing process, should the need arise. If you'd like to talk through the various installation options at your disposal, please give our technical services department a call at 877-630-1800.

      Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your question. Natural Acacia has a high density fiberboard (HDF) core. Due to its higher density and smaller wood fibers, HDF is stronger and more durable than medium density fiberboard (MDF).

              Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your question. Frost White Oak is designed for a left-to-right, back-to- front installation. Due to the locking system, it should not be installed in any other manner. If the layout of your house makes this difficult please give our technical services department a call at 877-630-1800. We'd love to try to help you develop a solution.

                Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your question. Recoating and refinishing of Forest Trail Hickory is not covered under the product's warranty, so we do not recommend that you do so. We cannot guarantee the performance and appearance of the floor if a non-factory coating is applied. If you'd like to discuss this subject with one of our technical services representatives you can reach us at 877-630-1800.
