Q:What percentage of light will it dim down to? I am replacing a kitchen light. I really don't care for LED because they are too bright. I want the same amount of light as the old 2 bulb fluorescent 4ft. light I am replacing.

A:  Don't know, but you should try it before you try to modify it. The light is somewhat brighter but it is more calming than fluorescent.

A:  Hello Janice. I have both the 4 tube and 2 tube LED fixtures. Each is controlled by the Leviton dimmer switch. The Leviton dimmer switch seems ( I do not have a light meter) to reduce the light by at least 50%, if not more. If you are light sensitive, you should be pleased by the 2-tube LED fixture and the Leviton dimmer switch. I've attached some pictures but they don't do it justice, possibly due to my phone camera. Kind regards, Al

A:  There are no replaceable bulbs in the fixture. It includes fixed LED chips that are not replaceble. This is the same as most enclosed LED light fixtures.

by|Feb 1, 2021

A:  Well, no... there are no bulbs there is an array of LEDs. Light Emitting Diodes providing wonderful light that lasts for decades and no bulbs to change EVER!!! Cheers, JimATX

Q:I see this fixture has no bulbs to replace. How long should bulbs last? I hate the prospect of replacing it when that happens. It will be in a high use area

A:  There are no bulbs to change ever. Most LED fixtures are rated between 22-45 years depending on operation. So, if your worried about difficult locations... LED fixtures are the best! Cheers, JimATX

A:  Product description says 50,000b hours. If you ran it 4 hours a day then that would last for 34.2 years.

A:  It is an LED fixture, hence no replacement bulbs. I am not aware of the technology ‘wearing out’ in any short period of time.

      by|Jan 29, 2021

A:  Well, they're diodes (light emitting diodes or LED) not bulbs and they last many years. Way beyond conventional bulbs. Hampton Bay is pretty decent quality so I'm not worried about mine in the kitchen. After 2 1/2 years - I cannot see any degradation. Hope this helps.

      Answer This Question

A:  It needs to be hardwired. Like all light fixtures in your house.

      by|Nov 23, 2020

A:  Yes, that is the only way that it can be installed.

      by|Nov 24, 2020

A:  Yes, it is designed to be hard wired.

Q:Will this light work with a motion detector without staying very dim when motion detector turns off?
        by|Oct 22, 2020

        Answer This Question

A:  There is no reason it would not work with a motion detector.

        by|Nov 23, 2020

A:  A motion detector is the same as a wall switch. So when it turns the light on and off - no different than the wall switch. The only time I've seen LED lights stay in a very dim state after being turned off was due to incorrect polarity.

Q:Can this light be use to light a carport

        Answer This Question

A:  I would think the manufacturer would say no. You know it's meant to be attached to drywall or wood ceilings. While I believe it would light a carport up very nicely, it isn't waterproof by any stretch so that's the chance you'd be taking. These are nice, bright lights!

        by|Jul 29, 2020

A:  You have to ask the manufacturer to be certain. Read this information on LED lighting for "damp" vs "wet" locations: https://www.suncolighting.com/blogs/sunco-blog/choosing-led-damp-vs-wet-rated-lights

Q:I am looking for a long light fixture that can replace my current single one bulb light fixture in my small hallway. I'm looking for something to help light up my hung photos down the hallway and a single fixture just doesn't work well. I don't really want track lights. Will this work for my purposes and is it pretty easy to replace what I have with this? Do I need to have a electrician come in?

          Answer This Question

A:  I suspect it will be very adequate to light your hallway. The Hampton Bay 49in x 10in LED 3000 lumens (4000k) replaced a two-tube fluorescent fixture that is for indirect lighting (i.e. it rests on an architectural wall/ledge) in a high ceiling bathroom and it provides at least 25% to 40% more illumination. Most conversion charts say 3000 lumens equal approximately 200 watts. An LED does not get hot like an incandescent bulb and draws less amps. That is why it is perfect for my application, i.e. resting on a wall ledge and facing up toward the ceiling. The fixture comes with the necessary accessories to mount the fixture to an existing electrical box. Because it is an LED fixture with a plastic (not glass) defuser it is very light and easy to hang. It is simple if you have ever replaced a light fixture or ceiling fan in the past. If uncomfortable working with electricity by all means call an electrician. Just know that the cost to have it installed may be as much or more than the light fixture itself.

A:  Hello SC. If you know how to replace and wire a single bulb fixture then installing and wiring the LED light is not a problem. It is recommended to have two (2) people because it is very awkward for one person to handle the 49 inch LED while mounting it to the ceiling. Hope this helps, Regards, Al

A:  This should be a perfect option. Give it a try! As for an electrician... a handyman or person who is handy should be able to install. It is very basic. Cheers, JimATX

Q:Anyone kow what model power supply can replace the one in it ? The only labeling on it is ETI-AD04001040033SDA & E339358. and those are evidently part numbers for the light itself. The PS has zero labeling on it. Mine is only a few years old and the supply is starting to die. (It takes longer and longer to come up and today it did not want to ower up at all) I thought I might just replace the supply since the LED's are still fine. A PS would not cost nearly as much as a new light. It evidenly uses some noname power supply.
