A: Hello Decman35. Sorry, outside of calling Hampton Bay I don't know where you would find a replacement power supply. Perhaps you could open up the light and see if there are model numbers or specifications on the existing power supply which you could source online from AliExpress or Banggood. Regards, Al.
A: I would return unit to Home Depot. Ask them to Return to Vendor and get a new unit.
A: As of today, 5/7/20, you can pick it up at the The Home Depot #8447 Lady Lake, FL location. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Hampton-Bay-49-in-x-10-in-Traditional-Rectangle-Angled-Lens-LED-Flush-Mount-Ceiling-Light-Dimmable-3000-Lumens-4000K-54644141/206355270
A: Check the Home Depot app or the Home Depot web site.
A: Yes. That is method I used. The fixtures wires for hard wiring the fixture are not very long. I removed a heavy duty plug from the old fluorescent light fixture (shop light) and wired it to this fixture's wires using wire nuts and electrical tape. The location of the fixture makes appearance a non-issue because it rests on the top of a very high architectural wall/shelf for indirect lighting The "splice" was placed inside an indoor/outdoor electrical plug plug protector for additional safety.
A: Yes, but you really should use a 3 wire plug to make sure that it is a properly grounded. It isn't intended to do this and doesn't come with a strain relief, so you should also add this to prevent the wire from being damaged over time and causing a short.
A: See the "Use and Care" manual for this product on the Home Depot web site. It requires a three-wire hookup (including a ground wire). It could be wired to a 3 prong plug rather than a 2 prong plug. Note that it also requires an on/off switch or dimmer. Otherwise you would have to plug it in to turn it on and unplug it to turn it off. Preferred installation is to an electrical box in the ceiling, controlled by a wall switch.
A: Hello Cheese. Short answer is no, the light is wired for 3 wires, hot, common, and ground.
A: A lot of people are looking for the replacement diffuser for this light. I could not find any information on it on either the Home Depot or the hamptonbay.com web sites. The Model number for this light is 54644141. I would suggest calling Hampton Bay Customer Service at 1-866-HD-HAMPTON (1-866-434-2678)
A: Suspect you will have to buy a new light to get just a cover.
A: I connected a plug to this Hampton Bay fixture. It seems to me that as long as you use wire caps to connect the fixture to the wires you can can place them inside the fixture. You may want to be doubly safe and wrap the caps with electrical tape, too.
A: Electrical code requires that the wires be enclosed in a ceiling box and then fed to the light, even if you intend to hang the light suspended by cables or chains. Kind regards, Al
A: I'm not sure the unit is that solid, so it may look rather flimsy if not adhered directly to a solid surface.. Hey, you could still give it a try. As for me, I'd look for a style that is designed to be hung that way-- or mount the light panel to a nice looking piece of wood and then suspend. Not a lot of wiring space inside and the wiring would show through a bit, I'm afraid. Best kitchen light I've ever had!
A: A electrical box is required. Mike
A: I installed it where a electric box was but screwed it to ceiling with drywall screws.
A: Yes but it might be over powering unless used with a dimmer switch.
A: Sure! The back of the light is also the grid for the lights, so you would have to make sure the wall could handle a flush mount. It is a beast to install overhead! You might be at an advantage placing it on a wall. However, these lights are super bright! Beware, it's an eye-opener in the mornings. Plan on doing a two-person install.
A: Yes. We have a 4 ft one above the sink in the master bath and a 2 ft one above the sink in the guest bath. They are both mounted on the ceiling. We have one hooked up to a dimmer and it works great. They are very bright and we love them.
A: Would work well
A: No, it is a ceiling light and I would think too big for over a mirror in a bathroom, unless of course it is a large bathroom.
A: The dimmers that can be used on the light are: *Lutron SCL-153PR-WH MACL-153M-WH MSCL-OP153M-WH DV-603PG-AL LG-600H-WH GL-600H-DK TG-603PGH-WH *Leviton 81000-I IPL06 IPL06-10Z *Legrand ADWR703HW4 *Cooper SCL03P-A-K DLC03P-LA *Aspire 9534DS-K 9573WS
A: there is a list in the instructions it is VERY SMALL AND HARD to read
A: The documentation list all the dimmers that work with this light. It can be downloaded from this site.
A: Hello Hope. Yes, I found that the light cover was very tricky to remove and install. Just care and patience because I get a lot of questions on where to find replacement covers.
A: I have never had any problem of getting the cover on or off as long as you have the tabs in the right position and than lock them tabs in place to hold the lens in place
A: There are three tabs on each of the long sides. They rotate 1/4 turn and unlatch the diffuser from the base. I would have someone help support the diffuser or it might break as you are trying to unlatch it. It needs to be held in position until all six tabs are opened. For complete installation information see the Home Depot website and open the installation instructions for the Hampton Bay LED light 54644141. I recommend downloading and saving the document.
A: Hi Hope- YES!! The cover has latches that border the long sides, It takes two people and a solid chair to stand on to really have enough hands to place it properly. I have been putting off cleaning mine for this very reason. Join the club!
A: Actually I found it to be one of the easier cover installations that I have had the inflexible sharp edge plastic covers on the old fluorescent fixtures worst. I do recall a little bit of trouble with as the plastic edge is bit thick and it made it a little difficult to get the latch to work. No issues with removal though and it stays on nice and solid.
A: You are cheaper off to buy another one, because I have checked on just the Len's myself but it cost more to replace the lens then it is to buy a whole new light.
A: We love this light too. A replacement cover can be purchased online from Home Depot and shipped to you for $65.00. Check there website for 4’ Replacement Lens for Led Ceiling Puff light.
A: Hello Mike. I don't have a straight answer for you. If it were me, I would first contact Home Depot, if they cannot help you then I would find the manufacturer and contact them for a replacement defuser/cover. Sorry I couldn't have been of more help. Kind regards, Al
A: You may want to check the wiring, otherwise if it is the light, please return it to Home Depot to exchange for another one at no cost.
A: Snapping sound is not good. You need to have all of your electrical connections checked. If there is no connection issue I would recommend taking this product back and get another one. You may have a defect. Best to be safe! Cheers, JimATX
