A:  Chen, Henry 887G TropiCool 100% Silicone Roof Coating should not be used on shingles. The only coating that we manufacture for shingles is Henry 812 RoofSaver. Henry 812 is a clear sealer designed to extend the life of aged shingles by locking in granules and reducing further granule loss. Henry 812 extends roof life up to 5 years. Prior to coating you will need to carefully inspect the area to be sealed and repair all cracks, breaks, splits and holes with Henry 212 All Purpose Crystal Clear Sealant. You should let the repairs form a skin and set up for 24 hours before applying Henry 812.

A:  John, you typically don't need to apply a primer before the application of Henry887 TropiCool 100% Silicone Gray roof coating. If the roll roofing is fairly new and you think you may have a bleed through problem you can apply a coat of Henry 587 Dura-Brite prior to coating with Henry 887. Usually though if the roll roofing has been on the roof for a while and has weathered you just clean it with a light pressure wash, let it dry and then apply the Henry 887.

A:  Jupo, you probably can apply Henry 887 TropiCool Gray 100% Silicone as long as the aluminum roof coating has had the ability to age in the weather for a year. Your best bet is to apply several adhesion tests on the roof to see how well the 887 sticks to the surface. Since Henry 887 Gray is the same product as the white 887 you could to the adhesion tests with a one gallon bucket of the white 887.

A:  Larry, Henry 887 TropiCool Gray Silicone Roof Coating should NOT be used or applied to a garage floor. Henry 887 is a roof coating that is not suited to constant foot traffic or automobile traffic. You would be better served by consulting with a Home Depot paint associate to find the best garage floor coating.

A:  Danny, no, the Henry 887 Gray is not as efficient as the white at reflecting the sun's rays. There is what is called the solar reflective index where reflectivity is measured from 0 to 100. 0 would be black and 100 would be white. The reflective index goes up as the shades of black gradually become white. The reflectivity of 887 Gray is somewhere around 65% while the white is around 88%. Hope that helps.

A:  Rich, unfortunately Henry 887G TropiCool 100% Silicone Gray roof coating would do very little to reduce the rain noise on a metal roof.

A:  Mike, we would not recommend the application of Henry 887 TropiCool 100% Silicone to cement that is prone to efflorescence. The issue is that the vapor migrating through cement causes efflorescence. In the long run, the adhesion would fail.

A:  Valorie, you can apply Henry 887 TropiCool Gray over Henry 587 Dura-Brite acrylic roof coating. Make sure that you wash off the roof and let it dry prior to the application of Henry 887.
