Answer This Question
A: I drilled holes to make the plastic wall anchors easier to insert into the drywall. I don't think they are strong enough to "pound" into the drywall. Choose a drill bit slightly smaller than the diameter of the anchors to ensure that they will stay in the drywall after attaching the holdback.

A: Pre-dilled holes recommended (by the instructions and by me). If you don't, the anchors will make a mess of your drywall because they displace a lot of material (they are wide).

Q:What size drill bit do I need to use for the anchors into my drywall?
I don't understand why it doesn't say this anywhere on the package? I called the number listed on the package and of course they are only open during normal business hours. I want to get this project done now. Please help.

A: The 5/16 hole works best. Use a flat head screwdriver to screw the plastic piece into the opening.

A: I drilled pilot holes with a 1/8th in bit. I didn't drive the screws, but rather screwed them in with a ratcheting screw driver.

A: I used a 5/16 inch bit to drill holes in drywall for the expanders. I was able to screw them in first and then screwed the holdbacks into the expanders with the screws provided.

A: Size of drill bit all depends on whether you are able to find a stud to attach the tie backs or you have to put the plugs in the Sheetrock first for added strength with no studs. I believe I used a 3/8” bit for mine. Hope that helps.
