Q:can I use my regular wall switch that I had connected to my old ceiling fan instead of using the remote control

A: No. I purchased a replacement programmable wall switch that essentially does the same thing as the remote, without the chance of getting lost. To use this, just hard wire your circuit hot, then the fan always has power and is controlled by remote or wall switch.

A: Hello Jim, No, since the Dempsey model is not manufactured with pull chains, you will need to use the included remote control to operate the fan speeds and lighting. You would need to purchase a Hunter model fan with pull chains if you want to operate the fan from your wall switches. Have a great day!

A: Our electrician said we could use the same wall switch. However we decided not to. So it was possible we just wanted a different kind of convenience. We attached the remote in the holder that was enclosed right next to the light switch already on the wall. We want to use the light on fan for lighting for quick entry into our bedroom. It works perfectly for both the light and the fan. The remote can be removed also if you want to keep by your night stand to turn light on quickly without getting out of bed or change the air level on fan. This fan is wonderful for us and so quiet which was tops on our list too. We bought two fan and had the other one installed the same date in the living room. Even though the vans and remotes are close in location there is not any compromise on the remote working for the correct fan.

A: Unknown. I never tried it.
I mounted the holder of the remote on the wall near the old wall switch, so the remote is like a wall switch itself.

A: Yes. Set the fan speed and light the way you want it with the light switch on. Then you can turn the light switch off and on and the fan will always come on with those settings.

A: This can be hardwired to a wall switch.
by|May 5, 2023
A: Yes you can. I installed my fan to a Lutron Maestro fan/light switch combo. You can use the wall switch or the remote, not both. When installing don't install the remote hardware at all. From the fan the black wire is the fan and the blue wire is the light.

A: Hi quincy,
No, the Dempsey model cannot be flushed mounted. The closest mounting option will be using the included 2 inch down rod and the measurements are as follows: from the ceiling to the bottom of the blades is 8.47 inches and from the ceiling to the bottom of the light kit is 12.65 inches. Have a great day!

A: I used the 2" rod that comes with it and it was perfect. It's not flush mount but less than 13" from ceiling to bottom of light. Perfect for my 8' ceiling in bedroom.

A: Yes there is a flush mount option but Home Depot sell it under a different model #59242 for $189.99. According to HD website assembled height is 12.27"
