A: The boards are slightly less than 8 inches wide. They are wider than standard 1x8 boards because they are rough sawn and not planed smooth on either side. The manufacturer states that they are 7.875" wide, which I would say is about right but I noticed some variation in the width.

A: You could use this for baseboard, you would have to be able to use some sort of stain on any cuts that expose "fresh wood" because any time you cut it to length it will expose fresh unpainted wood that would contrast against the brown color already on the surfaces
